i've learned never to underestimate women's tolerance for pain. i'll be having dinner at my parent's place and my mom will be like, "oh honey, could chop these carrots for me? i cut myself." and i'll look and she'll be like bleeding all over the place but not particularly concerned about it. also she likes all her food at about 200 degrees. as far as i can tell, she's par for the course.

it's a new mother thing. you're walking around all the time with your elbow stuck out further than normal because there's a baby layin' across it so you keep track of that, shift to the right everywhere you go so you're not bashin' your elbow or worse yet the baby on the doorframe. you're gettin' next to no sleep and your mind is still mush from the pregnancy anyway. consequently, for a couple months at least, ya keep goin' through the door with plenty room for your left elbow and leavin' your baby toe in the room you left.
