I am thinking about upgrade to skt 939 mobo with PCI-e when I plan to upgrade to HD2900XT card. Or stay with my current mobo and buy X1950XT AGP card?
What do you suggest? Opinion?

Well it really depends on what you need and what you want to spend. If you're spending all that money on the R600 card, I don't know why you'd base the system on a dead s939 platform. Basically, you need to give more info. Also, are you on socket 939 now?

Im sure you can get one of those Nforce 939 boards cheap somewhere. I remember seeing them for like 40 bucks in hot deals a while back. I have msi one thats been real nice and steady for almost 2 years now.

Dont spend any more on AGP cards. Its like investing in confederate bonds at the end of the civil war or buying a Corvair for safety.

939 is dead. AGP is WAY dead. Get a cheap C2D board if you're going to do an upgrade, or AM2 if you prefer AMD. I currently own an A8N-SLI Deluxe, and my next board will likely be a 680i board for a new Core 2 CPU.

I know Compuvest often has loads of stuff that's outdated. Maybe they purchase lots from liquidators. I don't know. I know I bought a couple of socket A CPUs from them in the past and they came in non-standard kind of packaging. Like it was just wrapped in an anti-static bag with some foam in it or whatever it was again. They also ship to Canada. If you like socket 939 motherobards, maybe you can try them.

I know I got an Abit AT8 32X from infonec which is in Canada. I'm waiting for NCIX to ship me back my RAM because I RMA'd it because I had one stick that was defective. Well, I mean I hope they sent me new RAM instead I mean. I"m also waiting for the new ATIs to come out so I can build a second machine. Some people will laugh but I bought a 4000+ socket 939 because it was only around $150 CDN after the rebate. At least tigerdirect.ca paid their rebate.

That's only true when referring to ASRock's VIA chipset Intel socket 775 boards.

Hey-I had two turbocharged Corvairs and they were great if you knew how to drive them.

Etech4sale has a fair selection of 939 boards. I got my asrock dual sata II off newegg's open box section for $30. It works ok. Got my 3200 up to 240 fsb. It has a pci-e sync or async setting, but no locks for agp.

Your cpu is fine, and no need to replace it yet. I would recommend an NForce 4 based motherboard., such as:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186037

My ECS KN1-Lite Extreme (no my wife's machine) was great. It came virtually free as a combo deal, and was a great overclocker with kust about every option you can ask for. It is not for sale anymore, though, but was great for the price. I would try to get something cheap - no sense putting a lot of money into a Socket 939 board. NewEgg has some open box models for $33 (but not NVidia chipset).

To answer your original question - I think it would be better to get a PCIE motherbaord, compared to getting another AGP card.
