14,000 feet over the North Shore in Oahu. It was freaking incredible and absolutely beautiful. My ears are still messed up though.

Crossed that of my bucket list.

Pacific Skydiving. I think after all the pictures and videos it was around $375. There's a $40 charge if you're over 200 lbs too. Quite expensive, but worth every penny.

What a ride that had to be!!!!

I did the skydive thing one time and it was great but to do it over Oahu at 14,000 ft musta been quite the major rush.

Nice!

14,000?
Did you need oxygen or do they figure you get to 10,000 quickly and don't need it?

Skydiving is something I'd like to do that I know I'll never do. Kinda like Gisele Bundchen.

I would like to try it, but I am a little afraid of that first step.

14kft is a common jumping altitude, as well as a common summit height for day-trip mountain climbers, and I've never heard of anyone using supplemental oxygen for either.

At 14k the pilots were most likely using oxygen.. The FAA requires it above 12,500

Above 14K the flight crew must use it for the entire duration; above 12,500 they must use if for the portion of the flight exceeding 30 minutes.
That is why 14K is the common altitude for high jumps; at 15K you must provide it for the jumpers as well.
Jump flight crews don't need to use it because they never exceed the 30 minute rule.

I did a tandem jump a couple years ago, it was awesome. I took the AFF class and could have gone solo (with 2 guys holding on to me at the start), but decided to just go tandem.

Awesome, I REALLY want to go skydiving one day. Pics?

10,000 jumps? Are you serious? What is the point of that?

Most likely works as an instructor/jump crew. I know a guy who has done a few thousand working as an instructor.

That's possible I guess - but Anubis said he works with him, so I don't think that is this guy's primary job.

If he doesn't work as an instructor I would seriously question that figure. 10,000 jumps, even over forty years, is a jump on every working day. I don't buy that.

Yeah, Dillingham field. I didn't notice if the pilots were using air masks, since we were facing the back of the plane and my face was glued to the window.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance. The hotel charges for internet so I'm on my phone.

It was weird that I specifically remember how the camera man used his hands to make sure he was pointed the right way.

Yeah that's a ton of jumps. I do know that the guys who I tandem'd with had upwards of 1000 though because they would put in about 10-15 jumps per day on the weekends.

I'm going in a few weeks in Santa Cruz. Already bought the tickets. They want us to jump barefoot since we'll be landing on the beach.

Did a tandem jump in New Zealand (Lake Wanaka area) a few years ago, 13,000 ft, I think. I almost backed out, so glad I didn't, it was absolutely amazing.

My daughter did this for a high school project (because of where her birthday falls, she was 18 most of the senior year), this was outside Dallas with a company called Skydive Dallas even tho it was about an hour northeast of dallas. she still want to do more jumps. I think it's addicting. she did a tandom jump.

I almost joined her on the jump, but I was a little short on cash at the time.

Very nice! Thanks for that, I'm thinking about doing this myself but I'd kill to be able to do it over Ohau. I notice your tandem guide performed a bit of a turning dive/swoop ending in a glide at the last 300 feet or so. Sweet!
