I have an interesting (well, at least to me!) one...
I've recently built a system utilizing a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 motherboard, which I got specifically due to the displayport (over the UD3 which swaps it for a VGA) being available as a connector. Unfortunately I've been unable to get this to work, and have so far been through 3 boards.
The system is a GA-Z170X-UD5, i7-6700k, and a GTX 1080. My intent is to have 3x Dell P2715Q 4k monitors hang off the GeForce and hang an additional Dell U2711 (1440p) off the integrated GPU.
Unfortunately the U2711 only accepts 1080p over it's HDMI input, so utilizing HDMI is out.
The problem: If I plug either a U2711 or a P2716Q into the displayport on the motherboard, the monitors will briefly come out of power save mode to immediately go back to no signal. If I re-install video drivers, or just boot into windows the same thing happens. It's not the cable (both monitors work fine connected to the nvidia), and unfortunately I don't have a different brand monitor to test with.
I can connect the HDMI and DVI to the U2711 and it works - however at reduced resolution due to the U2711's HDMI limitations, and the DVI-D connector being single link (this is a really strange limitation in 2016...)
At this point I've tried beta Intel HD 530 drivers, and all sorts of fiddling I can think of. Nothing I can think of works, the port is acting like it's simply dead or disabled. This is the second UD5 motherboard I've tried with the exact same problem, so I don't think it's a bad hardware component.
Any ideas would be helpful I really would like to avoid adding a second GPU just to drive a single 1440p panel, which is the reason I got a motherboard with onboard displayport.
Edit: I just tried booting a Ubuntu LiveCD, and as soon as the driver initializes during kernel boot, video switches from the nvidia to the onboard Intel. Ubuntu appears to boot up into the proper resolution automatically. So far looking like a Windows 10/driver issue.
