I saw deal on HP i7-6700 systems today (reference to my thread that you replied). You can order today, Shipping date for HP is around 10/1.

Whenever Intel can get the yields up high enough so as to provide sufficient supply and confidence in the OEMs for them to migrate their product offerings.

Trust me they are trying, but you can't expect the stars to align every node, 14nm has been a bit of a stumble for Intel.

There is a reason the foundries did not attempt to gain full-node areal shrink entitlement for their comparably named 16nm/14nm nodes. It was deemed to risky to the HVM timeline, something Intel no doubt assessed as well but concluded the risk was worth the reward. In hindsight, pretty sure they would have opted to go for less aggressive scaling and quicker time-to-volume for 14nm HVM.

I can't wait to hear from their 10nm process. If they overshot on 14nm, 10nm without EUV should be pie-in-the-sky.

Yeah, 10nm isn't looking so great right now At least they gave themselves another year with Kaby Lake.

Well they could have supplied North America like they did EU and Asia so there would be word-of-mouth from enthusiasts to help drive demand for Skylake chips at OEMs when all the regular joes here how great it is and want it too. But since they nerfed the deployment to NA, hardly anyone has them yet so there's very little organic demand to drive OEMs to want to bulk purchase them just yet.

I find it annoying when these companies do these "show off" events where they debut the chips, benchmarks, features, interviews, etc

..... but then they neglect to mention any dates or when the actual release date is.

I would imagine you would "come out right from the start" with the release dates or at least an estimate?

Here the MSI GT72S-6QE with i7-6820HK sold out already, still have the GT72-6QD with i7-6700HQ in stock though. HP and Dell have a number of Skylake laptops ranging from i7-6700HQ with HP to i7-6500U and i5-6200U. These come with DDR3 while the MSI laptops are DDR4.
