Let's make this the "official" Skylake owners thread, where owners (and potential owners) of Intel Skylake-based chips can talk about all things Skylake

What kind of overclocking results you all getting? On both my 6700K (cooled by H110i GT) and 6600K (Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO), I'm sitting comfortably at 4.6GHz, both at 1.36V. The 6600K doesn't really like going further at that voltage (not sure I want to push it further), but I have still to push the 6700K (since I purchased a protection plan for this sucker, I don't mind pushing it as hard).

I'm interested in stability & temp results of Bclk overclocking and dropping the multiplier.. i.e. 200 X 24 or 400 X 12..

OK, 4.7GHz (1.36 vcore) + DDR4-3000 failed Intel Burn Test pretty quickly (BSOD).

I've bumped vcore up to 1.38v and backed my DDR4 speed down to 2800MHz. Will report back on this...

I have my 6700k, a gigabyte UD5 motherboard, but I am waiting to get memory before is can finish my build.

What is everyone buying for their build?

that's a lot of vcore to be putting into 14nm.. I've got 32nm and I leave mine at 1.32 volts @ 4.5 GHZ just because I want it to last a decade.

Managed to get 4781-4783 with Asus' extreme automatic overclock. Got through a cinibench test and ran windows fine but wasn't stable with Realbench.

With one or 2 cores in use it would turbo to 4884.

Am currently using manual settings, running it with Asus' version of Adaptive voltage which is like having a fixed voltage but with speedstep still working. You can input a maximum voltage for it to go to at load which differs from offset voltage because it doesn't vary depending on what kind of load you give it.

I'm using level 6 LLC which gives me very close VID and Vcore, both around 1.425v.

With offset voltage, the Vcore was unnecessarily much higher than the vid which added abut 10c of heat.

It has passed an hour of realbench. Am going to try 6 when I get a chance.

I have requests for those who have a Skylake system.

1. Super Pi 1M
2. Linpack with at least 2.0 GB of RAM per core, 10 minutes or longer.

I'm going to build this
6700k
Asus z170 gaming pro
Corsair Vengance 3200 Ram
sm951 NVMe 512GB
Asus xonar Existence STX

I'm going to be using my GTX 770 for the time being with it. I am aware it would be a lot bigger upgrade and cheaper to buy a graphics card for gaming. But I'm waiting to do the graphics card until I get which ever VR head set is best to get, as I feel it's going to be very important to have the latest and greatest.

Might want to watch the V Core a lot.

I read somewhere the SL is a bit touchy there on possibly frying, but I don't have one I guess.

Very interesting thanks, have set mine to 1GHz. Initially there was some flickering and corruption with Arkham Knight that caused it to crash twice during the benchmark but after I checked the games cache it worked fine.

If there is any improvement it seems to be within the margin of error I'd usually associate with either AK or DA:I, the only 2 games with benchmarks that I have installed so far. Will try Metro Redux when it downloads.

3DMark 11 shows some reduced performance and some increases but some of that maybe down to different drivers being used. It's hard to quantify at the moment.

16 or 32 gigs of at least 3000 DDR4 - haven't decided
980TI
Samsung SM951

Not sure on which cooler yet

Has anyone tried overclocking their k chips with fine-grain (e.g. no straps) bclk adjustments?

I did a little fine adjustment to get 4.78GHz but it wasn't stable. Some have been able to boot without issue at 200MHz or higher, for some reason if I set mine at 110% or above it won't boot at all.

Currently running at 4.6, I'm going to try some small adjustments to the bclk in the near future.
