I agree with PC.

I'm in the same boat as some users saying "I just enjoy games on the console better". In a lot of cases that's true. Games like Assassins Creed, Saints Row, etc, I just truly enjoy sitting on the couch. Getting a cold beer from the fridge, and spending some time gaming. I also feel a lot of games just "feel" more natural on the console controller as well (which is a non-deal really as I have an XB360 controller on both systems). It's a big reason why I play my XB360 a lot, though, is most games are just leisurely for me.

Having said that... some games just crave the PC. The Elder Scrolls games are an example of a community that makes the game longevity worth it by itself. When you wish there was more... they give you more (in addition to official stuff).

So go PC for sure.

You guys have shamed me into changing my pre-order from Xbox to the PC. I will still probably use my wired Xbox controller and looking to buy a new 27" monitor.

Over the years I've moved to being a mostly console gamer. But the Elder Scrolls games have all been PC for me and I think will continue to be.

wouldnt she enjoy to actually play it more than just watch it? kinda more engaging experience that way.

When I was playing Oblivion I hit a wall where I got really tired of it so I encouraged her to start her own character while I took a break. She did like it for a week or so, but then decided that she'd rather enjoy the game passively. Believe me, I'd be thrilled if she played more games!

What was wrong with Oblivion on the console? I played Oblivion on the 360 quite extensively and very much enjoyed it. What was supposedly unplayable about it? Or was something in the ps3 version broken that wasn't on the 360?

I gave up on pc gaming, ends up getting too pricey and time consuming always trying to get the last ounce of performance out of it. Life became much less stressful when I can be perfectly content with on-board video.

came to this realization just recently. PC game selection (in stores at least) are pretty pathetic. Kind of reminds me of the days when DvD started to take off and stores had tiny selections of remaining dust covered VHS movies off in some dark corner.

Quite a few new games come out for all 3 systems (pc-xbox-ps3) and much of the time the pc version just seems like a port from the console (control wise anyway)

so got myself a ps3 last week and am enjoying it alot. Havent turned on the game pc in a week. probably only use it to play some mmorpg.

This little bit posted on Ars Technica might help decide. For me, I'm a detailed texture freak so PC for sure.

It's a texture-happy last-gen beast. It's not big on shaders (mostly post-processing and HDR lighting), it's big on textures. It'll fill 1.7 GB of VRAM without trying on "Ultra". "High" limits it to 1 GB.

The snow effects are done with animated meshes and animating textures. One small hut will have more vertices in it than the entire Imperial City of Oblivion. Texture detail is exquisite. It's the last generation taken to a dizzying extreme.

Underneath it all, though, there's a SM3.0 DX9.0c rendering engine not at all unlike the one you saw in Fallout: New Vegas. It's the same magnitude of upgrade that Fallout 3 made from Oblivion. Evolutionary, not revolutionary.

This means that all you really need is a lot of very fast VRAM. 128 bit buses need not apply. If you're not pushing 70 GB/s around the video card, you won't like playing on High at 1080p. If you can max out Oblivion and get 100 FPS, you'll get 60 FPS in Skyrim on High, not on Ultra.

Oh yeah, and they fixed the multithreading crap that plagued Oblivion and Fallout 3. It'll now peg four cores if you've got 'em without going all CTDish.

Animation, from what I've seen, remains a Bethesda weak point. Chip an enemy's health bar to zero and they'll flop down in the middle of a mighty sword swing as though the strings were cut on a puppet. It makes you feel like you're fighting robots and just waiting for the lucky hit which will knock the "off" button. AI is, again, something that in places you'll admire and in other places you'll wonder what the fuck is going on. You WILL turn an entire town hostile and have no idea why. On the other extreme, you'll return a worthless trinket to a random elven NPC and she'll be your faithful sla... companion until death. Most likely at your hands, given how often she'll run in the way of your arrows/spells/shouts. Given how easy it is to pick up faithful slav... friends, this is a game begging for a friendly fire toggle.

Physics is improved, but like with many other things Skyrim, has its caveats still. You won't brush past a table and wreck a house, but you will accidentally hit a giant corpse and send it into the stratosphere with a moderately weak spell. Townsfolk will comment on your littering when you do so, just the same as when you drop an item of clutter into the village square.

I'll probably be getting it for my 360, even though my pc can run it. It's something that I can't quite explain but I just enjoy games more on my xbox. I can just sit back and enjoy the game for what it is, rather than trying to get the best performance and best graphics and get all the mods that I want and make sure they work properly. I just spend more time fiddling with settings and mods on the pc than actually playing the game and having fun. When I try and max the graphics but realize that my pc can't handle everything maxed, I get disappointed and find myself wishing that I could run the game better, rather than just accepting it for how it looks and moving on.

I also like to just sit on my couch with a controller and relax and play the game. Sure I can hook up a controller to my computer and run the game on my tv instead, but I have to switch main displays (fucking up my window sizes and icons, and then even after setting my monitor as main display sometimes programs will just decide to open on my tv instead), and it's a hassle getting games to work on a 42" 720p tv with rectangular pixels.

Maybe in a year or so when all the best mods are out and working great and all the unofficial patches are out, I'll pick up the game for cheap on the pc and fool around with mods then.

I get you 100%. I've been feeling the same exact way about games lately. After playing Uncharted 3 I wish all game experiences could be that seamless. When consoles become more powerful and dominant in the gaming market, things will certainly be even more tailored to consoles, and less tailored to PCs. We all know it, its only a matter of time.

But to the OP, it seems like you want Skyrim for your PS3 but you're not 100% sure. Just go with what you think is more suitable. Do you really have the need to play with mods and fiddle with settings? Or do you want to go home, pop in the disc, and play immediately? Also, this game is a huge time sink... I'd rather be on my couch for this title.

Well, after playing Skyrim this evening, I realized that the game offers nothing special on the PC at this time. It might make more sense to get this one a console if you are just going to play it at release. Otherwise, I would highly recommend waiting 6 months to a year after some community love can be given to the game.

In 6-12 months sure, right now it doesn't matter.

Very much false. There's already a boat load of mods that help the graphics as well as gameplay tweaks. If you have the ability to play on a PC, you're a fool not to.
