I played some more over the weekend and hit level 41. My Smithing, Heavy Armor, and Blocking are all at 100. My single-handed skill is at level 96, so I should be at 100 tonight.

I've crafted a complete Dragon bone plate set (including shield) and a deadric sword. At this point my guy is only susceptible to magic damage, but that will change soon as I plan to enchant the hell out of my armor.

Oh, also, the Bradyly CE guide for this game is insane. It has everything, and it's something like 500 pages!

everyone who has played 20+ hours.

rating? out of 10.

9.5/10 It isnt perfect, the bugs at times can be annoying (I sometimes get freezing in larger combat scenes), and I still wish they had included some sort of real-time auction house. Like Forza has for cars, and most MMORPG's have. That I think would have made this game amazing. Being able to craft armour and weapons and enchant them and sell them to your friends (or give). Still at the end of the day a solid game I will put many many more hours into.

40 hours over the weekend: 9/10 from me. I'm hesitant to ever say a game is 10/10, but this is damn close. If you like Bethesda's open world games then get it. Straight up. I have yet to experience a single bug in the entire game. No freezes, no show-stoppers, nothing.

Huge fan. 9/10

Insane how far some of you have gotten. I'm only level 30 and none of my tree are close to lvl 100.

I'm pretty sure I'm making all kinds of stupid character creation choices, but my wife is back seat driving, so I'm trying to share the decisions. I like sneak/archers, she likes mages. But hey, Oblivion and Skyrim have been the only two games my wife has ever taken interest in, and doesn't mind watching me play...all day. I'll take it.

I'm not that far in, only level 7 or so, but it's great so far. Already loving the two-fisted column of fiery death that I can burn things up with.

I've put about 12 hrs into this... so far, the story/graphics are awesome as usual, but this is a horrible console port. The interface just screams console port. Clicking on your selection does nothing and you have to wade through lists via buttons.

The equip spell menu is also buggy, with the spell not equipping on the mouse button you select. Also often there's a bug where you can't deselect a spell to select another. The only way to fix it is to equip a two handed weapon and unequip it and return to the spell menu.

Well bugs is what Bethseda is known for, but it's still a kick ass game!

Well... you DID post this in the console gaming thread

This game worth getting if you already have the PC version?
See about a month ago i pre-ordered the PC version on Direct 2 Drive. In the interm
i ended up buying a PS3 (very happy with it) been about 2 weeks now and i just finished playing DragonAge 2.
I DL the pc version on my pc2(email/web machine) but i havent even turned on my PC1(game machine)since i got the ps3.

after reading the above (wonky pc controls) i am wondering if i should just get the ps3 version. Wondering how the grafix would compare. i am assuming the pc would look better - considering my vidcard cost more than the whole ps3 - but maybe not?

still have a ton of ps3 titles to play thru. like the uncharted series(got the box 1&2) and then will get UC3. Also got Infamous2 (came with the ps3) that i want to start tonight.

so if i do want to get the ps3 of skyrim atleast i should be able to trade in some games to offset the cost.

I've had several 2 hour plus side missions. They lead me to some long as hard dungeons. I love this game.

I need help finding someone's body:

Did anyone else find the body of a dead Nordic treasure hunter on the way from leaving Helgard (intro area) to Riverwood? I re-rolled and started over and can not find this dude's body again. Anyone have any clue what I'm talking about and can help?

TIA

Apparently it was/there are a plethora of random world encounters and that was one, so please disregard the above post.

I actually wish the dungeons were a little smaller. Look, I love the amount of content in the game, but I don't like being in one place for over an hour. In the perfect world in my head: instead of 100 1-hour dungeons there'd be 200 30-minute dungeons. Also, I'm a hoarder in these types of games, so I get stressed when I'm deep into a huge dungeon and I'm dangerously low on carrying capacity.

Finally, speaking of carrying capacity, is there any way to increase this besides the Steed Stone (which I already have, and it isn't enough!)?

Increasing your stamina when you level up also increases your carrying capacity. It was one of those things I gave up when I decided to become a battle mage.

Also, make sure you buy the house in Whiterun ASAP. Then you can stash your heavy items like dragon bones and scales. That always leaves me with a couple hundred pounds I can carry which is enough for a couple dungeons.

I forget which skill it is (maybe pickpocket?) but at like 70 or so there's a perk that increases your carry capacity by 100lbs.

Yeah as a thief-y class I have yet to upgrade my Magicka, and I've only leveled my health twice. The other 25 level ups have gone to stamina

heh, as a battle mage, all of it has gone to mana and a couple to health. It is not the greatest level of customization but you know what? With the perks, I kind of like it.

24 hours logged so far. From a guy that's never really been the RPG type, and never played an Elder Scrolls game before -- I love it. I'm aching to get out of work and get back at it. Not only that, my girlfriend likes watching me play -- bonus. I knew the hype was huge, so I really had no idea what to expect, but, it's an awesome game. I went out last night and picked up the strategy guide as well. Being my first Elder Scrolls game, I wanted to read up on as much as I could.

One of the guys I work with took started a two week vacation the day Skyrim launched. I should have done the same.

lol, my coworker and I were just talking about that. He is yearning to play. I am as well but have a family I have to attend to. My saving grace is 3 hours each night and Saturday when my wife works 12 hours.

Hmm, that explains it. I figured there had to be a relatively-common way to increase carrying capacity. I'm a battlemage, too, so I really shouldn't be wasting levels on Stamina. I'm a level 10 and I think I've done 6 Magicka and 3 Health.

How much is the gain in carrying capacity per Stamina level-up?

With the Steed Stone any armor I wear is weightless and I do routinely drop off every last non-critical item in my house (why did the only storage chest have to be on the second floor??) which gets me down to ~30 lbs before I set out on my adventures. I don't even carry a sword (by the time I need one in battle, I've usually found one already).

The house in whiterun can have several storage units of the first floor. You need to buy the upgrades from the Jarl's adviser though.

I went out last night and picked up the strategy guide as well.

People who say that strategy guides are for cheaters in games like Skyrim must have a lot of free time on their hands. I picked it up, too, and haven't once used it for "cheating" on a mission. Instead, I find it FAR more helpful merely as an encyclopedia on the world: what spells exist in the game, which ingredients make which potions, etc.

One of the guys I work with took started a two week vacation the day Skyrim launched. I should have done the same.

I took yesterday off work to play it... it wasn't enough :'(

Last night I played from shortly after I got home at about 7:30 until I couldn't stay awake anymore at 3:30. I'm at work now and all I can think about is getting home to more Skyrim. So far the hardest thing I've dealt with was the end of the quest for Meridia. Took me like 10 attempts to beat the final guy. I'm a Breton and he was still one shotting me with one of his spells. I may end up going home at lunch to play some more.
