Hi Currently I run Windows 98 on a slave machine, the machine has a P3 @ 933 and 512 mb. It is not state of the art but it is great as a secondary machine. Its main purpose is to render video and 3D-graphic and compile code.

There for I need a quite stable system, and as you maybe know the 98 version ofwindows is not the most stable system, but it work; sometimes : )

Now to my problem I want to upgrade to
---> Windows Me <---
because it's cheap and have great CPU power, but is it very stable? And what are the main differences between 98 and Me??

Note that I will not use the machine for games.

Thanks!

No! Don't do it! WinME is LESS stable than 98 for a lot of people. It *IS* good for games though (but then so is 98). If you were to ask which OS is the most stable the resounding answer would definitely be Windows 2000. Windows XP will be out very soon too.

sorry to tell you this, but you need to upgrade to win2k. end of story. 98 and me will not utilize all of your ram, about 1/2 actually, and me is just as bad as 98. go to win2k, that will utilize all of your ram and be extremely stable. alot of people say that win2k is not for gaming, but it in reality it works just fine for games, no problems. by switching to win2k you are going to gain a much more enjoyable computing experience, not nearly as many crashes. get rid of 98 and don't even waste your money on me. if you are a student, you can pick up win2k for ~$100. i just saw it at my schools bookstore.
