How can some of you comment on something you really don't understand?

So, you start a thread to voice your opinion, then tell people posting in it that they are unqualified to have an opinion contrary to yours?

a lot of people have ancestors that were slaves or in otherwise undesirable positions in the past... not just black people. you don't hear egyptians complaining about slavery... i bet a lot of poor egyptians today had ancestors that were forced to build the pyramids and crap.

I was going to post to say my parents immigrated to New Jersey living in a cockroach infested apartment and now we have a decent house in the suburbs of californ ia. Then I realized my parents both had college educations before they immigrated.

Its all about getting that education and being part of a culture that strongly supports (forces) one to get one is a pretty big factor.

College? lol My grandfather never finished high school. He dropped out when he was 16 to go work. My father went to night school for his degrees.

Almost every single ethnicity has been hated on after they immigrated - Irish, Japanese, Chinese, etc

They all got over it.

Less talk more action.

And do you like making threads like this every like 6 months just to piss people off?

Black people want repartitions?

How this for repartitions, a MUCH MUCH MUCH higher standard of living than 99.9% of the blacks still living in Africa. :Q
Blacks want to repartition their hard drives? LOL, I think you mean reparation.

I agree with everyone when they say whites were also once slaves. Many were brought to America as indentured servants. And if you want racism in America, think about the racism that the Irish had to endure during the famine in Ireland. Many immigrated to the New England territories seeking a better life. While they were looking for work, many stores and factories had a sign outside that read, "Irish need not apply".

No you see they partitioned their drives rather poorly and now it's getting all fragmented and slow. The page file is taking up way too much space. So basically repartitioning and a complete reinstallation should do the trick.

AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH :::

omg that's the best reply EVER

Blacks use the excuse of slavery to say "main (man), this my way to get back at the white man fo" what he did to us" even though none of the whites living now had any involvemen in the civil war.

Yes I agree with you that strong families=strong communities but the Civil War is not the cause of this problem in black communities. In many black communities, black men view sex as a form of entertainment. So they'll go have sex with a girl, get her pregnant, and run off more than likely to never be seen by the pregnant woman again. So that baby grows up without a father figure and winds up on the street sellin' drugs or gang bangin' just like his father. And the cycle starts all over. This is where the term "Yo mama" comes from. It is not "Yo daddy" because most black children grow up without a father figure in their life. MOST black people view the Civil War as an excuse the get back at the white man, even though no whites living had any involvement in the Civil War.

I used to get angry when I heard statements like that but now I realize that people just need to be better informed about slavery in america and its far reaching effects.

Some of the reasons slavery still affects people in America

1. The Civil War

2. During slavery slaves received minimal to no education, therefore when these people were eventually freed little emphasis was placed on acheiving higher learning if any at all.

3. Families were often broken apart during slave times and as most people who study history realize that strong families are the basis for strong communities. So when many slaves were freed their very foundation from the beginning was fractured.

4. Perhaps one of the most far reaching effects of slavery is the racism and hatred. I can't even begin to explain how it feels to belong to a race of people who can invoke pure hatred from others based solely on the color of their skin. Often times I've wished to be any other race than black simply to not have to deal with the racism and hatred.

5. Economically black people have suffered because of slavery. Many blacks in the US who have slaves ancestors can trace them back in 3 or 4 generations. (my grandmother's grandmother was a slave) And while this does'nt appear to be much of a factor think about americans who have 3 or 4 generations in this country. Thats 3 or 4 generations of family who've had the opportunity to attend college, build businesses, pass down family fortunes, etc.

I don't offer these explanations as an excuse for crime in the black community nor do these explanations give any black person the right to display racist attitudes towards whites. However I think people should have a clearer understanding of how slavery affects people today.

I agree that black people got the shaft a long time ago. I agree that there might be some reminence left today. I am 28 and grew up very poor. I dropped out of high school at 16 to get a job and help support my mom. Since then I have worked very hard to get where i am today. Nothing I have was handed to many. You cant tell me that blacks dont have the ability to do the same thing. I made a choice that I wanted more for myself. I worked hard to get it. Anyone in the US has the same opportunity.

Now for my real Rant!
I am getting sick and tired of the double standards in todays society. Why is it that we have "black" everything? Black Scholorships. Black Miss America. Black Entertainment TV. Ebony. Black Universities. What do you think would happen if we had "white" scholorship? 10 million black people would be on the news complaining about racism. 50 years ago blacks were complaining about segregation. Now they are doing it on there own. If you truely want to get rid of racism, quit trying to seperate yourselves.

I wanted to make it perfectly clear. I am not a racist in any way. My wife is half black. I am just tired of hearing about racism. I am in no way responsible for anything that happened 200 years ago. Neither is anyone who is alive today. Stop trying to blame us for what happened back then. Do your best to make your life as good as possible.

I don't know what schools your article refers to, but my "liberalized" public school education included those facts.
I was never taught about this...

I wont wont lie to myself or try to think differently. I do think it affects blacks. Not directly but indirectly. I dont think anyone who is not black can imagine what it is to be black and I myself wont try to. Yes! there other races which have been bigoted towards but IMO none like blacks in America. Almost all the other races and cultures came here on there own free will. Blacks on ther other hand were chained and dragged here to build much of America that we know today. Over the years they got "freedom" but could not vote for awile, drink from the same public water fountains as whits, go into many stores, hold much of the jobs that paid well, sit in the front of a bus, fight and shed blood in "WARS" next to whites, attend many colleges or schools and get the same level of education as whites, then of course the public hangings and the KKK which came to be to keep them in there place. That I am sorry to say was not hundreds of years ago as many want to think but in fact were from a your father or even your grandfather's days.

Many want to think slavery ended 200 years ago. It did not, IMO it ended not even 50 years ago. Segregation I think was just as bad as slavery and is still in the present in many forms today which I think indirectly still affects blacks. After many years of being considerd and treated like second class citizens by many its like those same people expect none of those things once used to hold back blacks to have no affect on them whatso ever.

I also hear some say I am, Asian, Jewish, Latin or whetever else and we had problems to and you dont hear us "bitching or whining" but lets be honest you dont have the same history in America has blacks or even Native Americans who are always forgotten as if there extinct, so why even try to put yourself on the same level of what they went through? I cant tell you the last time I saw a Native American on TV.

Many wont read this so why go on.
