sleepin' with my puter on

My newly built Athlon 1.4GHz is still louder than my old system with an Intel slot 1 processor with dual fan. Its in my bedroom and I just don't feel like shutting off or leave it on for download and stuff. I'm having hard time sleeping when my computer is on and the only thing I've been doing so far is shutting it off whenever possible. It has to be the fan(s) thats making the noise.

These are the fans I have:

PSU fan.. whisper quiet 80mm at 1500RPM
Panaflow high flow 80mm at back
generic 80mm at front
4800 Coolermaster 60x60x10 fan...

two 7200RPM hard drives

Do you guys have any idea how I can quiet this beast up without costing too much?

wow,,, WEAKLING!... i sleep with the delta in my little room ^^... but then again, im deaf now

anyways, u might want to change that panaflow to L1A and maybe replace that generic one wit hthe panaflow as well... Also, your heatsink fan might be causing much of the noise... but try changing that panaflow high flow fan first...

two of the loudest things in my system were the northbridge fan and the video fan on my Radeon 64DDR. The northbridge heatsink can be replaced with a bigger heatsink w/o fan, and there are replacemetnt coolers for vid cards as well. Lasagna is the quiet one there.

If you think your CPU heatsink is loud than look around for a 60->80mm adapter for it, and put a fairly decent flow, but quiter 80mm fan on top. When messing with all of this keep an eye on MotherBoard Monitor for temps.

The noise that is bothering you is most likely coming from the three smallest fans in your system (aside from CDRWs, etc). The northbridge, the video card, and the CPU. If you have all of these of course.
