I bought a custom made PC with sli 980 cards and when I look at the top one it is titled downward slightly. I dont know if this is do to weight but the bottom one seems to be perfectly horizontal. Is this normal or will it cause me problems later?

Lot of cards hang, bottom one might be supported by the power wires.
I've used zipties to hold the end up now and then. Finally bought a case
that has the cards sitting north/south.

Make sure your card is seated 100% correctly in the slot, and the screw fastening it to the case is pretty tight, then, if it is still sagging, you should not have to worry about it. The metal back plate should stop any harm from coming to the card from bending, so you are most likely safe to leave it as is.

I've noticed a lot of modern cards with aftermarket coolers sag quite a bit. They are basically thin PCBs with a giant block metal screwed on to them. My four reference GTX 980s don't appear to sag quit as much. At least from what I can perceive with my eyes.

Crappy picture so it's hard to tell.

1st glance makes me think the power plugs are pulling the top card down and somewhat lifting the bottom card.

Wouldn't hurt to make sure both cards are fully seated and fastened. Make sure there is some slack in the power cords.

2nd glance

Where did you get the invisible SLI bridge from?

Google'ing around not all the evga 980's even have backplates.
At best, it's still a so-so solution, the slot setup just wasn't designed to hang such
huge heavy cards. I had an HIS card awhile ago that came with an adjustable stand
piece for the back of the card to hold it up.
It bugged me enough I bought a case that holds them straight up and down, problem
solved forever and with better cooling. I could never bring myself to go back I don't think.

I'm really OCD, so "video card sag" is a big concern for me. For my current situation, my card just happens to have a small hole off to the side of the heatsink where I can thread a zip-tie through. The zip tie is then attached to the top of the case so it can prop up the rear end of the card a bit. It's ghetto, but it works.

Get a proper aftermarket GPU with a backplate. The 780Ti GHz I bought has a full length backplate that fully props the board up.

Your recommendation is to replace the graphics card?

Troubleshooting an issue where there is no reported impact by the OP... replace hardware as the first attempt at resolution.

Speaking generally, did I say replace? Or are you eyes sagging just like the GPU in the OPs post?

The proper solution..
Bolting a 2x4 to the back of the card would hold it stright(er) but it's still a bad design for a heavy long GPU.

If you look again he's got a performance impact. Doesn't even have a sli bridge. Who knows what other issues he's got lurking in the build.

Like kenmitch said: no sli bridge.

And the top card seem to be pulled by the power wires. Maybe they are not long enough.

The lack of the SLI bridge says it all about the builders skills. I'd have to question the other aspects of the build as well.

If the OP did indeed pay somebody full market value for the build then he should be somewhat worried about it. On the other hand if the OP did the build he should at least go back thru it and make sure it's correctly put together.
