After returning a levi 501 (31/32), due to shrinking 2 inches after 1 wash, and returning a Levi 511 (33/24) and another 511 (32/34), for sliding off when i bend over (i don't like saggin).

What jeans would y'all recommend? Slightly tappered leg is a must (i.e. NO Levi 514s). My budget is $60, and of course they don't have to be Levi's. My waist is 31+.

I certainly don't want super tight jeans that could get me fired lol.

If your jeans are sliding off when you bend over, why not try wearing a belt? Or getting a 30/32?

I've had good luck with American Eagle Slim Fit Straight jeans. They're about ~$35-40 IIRC.

I would go to a standard "one step better than Sears/Mervyns/JC Penny" store at the mall and get an actual decent pair of jeans.

Xpress is where I started buying "nicer" jeans when I started making over minimum wage....

Yes, they will have the super-slim-with-holes hipster options, but they also have regular jeans that fit.

I think $60 might be right around the price on a sale, which they always have.

GAP has some decent jeans with plenty of different styles. Throw in a 35-40% off coupon and you're looking at sub $60 jeans.

Buying jeans for me is something that is just insanely difficult. I can't find jeans that fit and look good on me...and every time I go looking for em I get frustrated and quit early. Yeah. Its kinda sad. End result is not wearing jeans very often.

I just go into every store I can find, try on anything that might remotely fit, and usually leave empty-handed.
I bought a jeans that is quite wide around the waist, simply because I needed one, and couldn't do any better than what I head.

Having an actual butt and thighs is apparently not something the makers of jeans regularly (excuse the pun) foresee...

I've had this problem too. Seems like most "affordable" jeans are made for either stick figures or large people; no in-between. Aside from AE, I've had good luck with Express jeans. I've had almost no luck at all with the big manufactures (Levi's, Lee, etc.)

I'm 6'1 190lbs 34 waist...not exactly tiny.

I hate to say it but paying a little more does go a long way to how jeans fit.

Levi/Wrangler/Costco CK/etc are all basically mom-jeans....which are fine for outdoor work or just being comfortable....but not for a social or work environment.

Um, size down on the 511s? Those are pretty close to actual waist size as far as jeans go. Or would they be too tight then, meaning that 511s are too skinny for you?

Try 508s, they have more room in the seat relative to the waist, so you can size down if you have to.

To prevent shrinkage, wash in cold and dry on delicate cycle. Those "rigid" or raw denims are going to shrink with anything other than a rinse, though, so avoid those if you want to avoid shrinking problems.

Also, Levis with the cotton/spandex blend shrink more.

j.Crew vintage or urban slim fit, on sale. I actually like the j.Crew factory ones too, and I usually get them for about $30.

511's have been the best fit for me, and I'm very thin. Guess had some nice jeans too, but cost $90, so fack that.

Banana republic used to fit, but the material is cheap feeling now. Guess relaxed jeans fit me better but they cost 90$. I only have 3 pairs of jeans since i usually wear slacks or pants on a daily basis so I'm fine with the price.

Relaxed fit, aka assman jeans.

Yeah, 31 waist on a 511 is tight along my quadriceps/butt. I don't even want to imagine what I'd look after lifting weights with my quads as well. Worst of all, my underpants were still showing; which is why I need jeans that fit at the waist not below the waist (i.e. not for saggers).

508 taper might be a good shot. Also 513s as someone else suggested.

I like AE skinny jeans, but their waist is bigger than the 511s.

Maybe you can try AE slim fits or slim taper or w/e they are called.

I tried on the Levi 505 straight/regular feet that fit at the waist & they seem to be the closest to 511, for those who don't want to sag.

I like Lands end jeans, they are the only company that has 34x33 jeans readily available for under $30.
