Are these all the same gauge and length?

Why do I ask? It was actually a trivia question! "What's the surface area of a slinky?" -M

Obviously the mini ones arn't the same as the regular sized ones.

I have a regular old world metal slinkie on top of my monitor. Although I am willing to measure the inside/outside diameter of it compressed and it's overall length I am not going to count the number of coils.

Yes but of course! They are newer. They had plastic ones too which were called Springers.

BTW the plastic ones are much safer. If you have an electric train nearby and were to go to an overpass running over the power lines that feed it and dropped a metal slinky across the phases the fireworks would be impressive. -M

I grew up in Steelton, PA. It happened a lot. Some people blame strange behavior on eating lead paint. I can blame mine on TMI radiation. -M

Did you know that radio operators during the Vietnam war often used Slinkies as antenna.

They would toss them up in the trees and then hook them to their radios for better range!

I wonder how many of them had black eyes from missing the tree! I've tossed a slinky before and had it come back and it hurts! -M
