Yup, slipstreaming is a great and necessary thing if you don't have a firewall in between the internet and the machine you're working on. Autostreamer worked very well for me with SP2 and XP.

How can I "slipstream" all the updates + servicepacks for windows XP Professional? Putting them all on one CD or DVD would be really helpful.

I hope this is not a joke!
SP2 includes all the updates you need. You just need to slipstream SP2.

I for one, had to give up on slipstreaming. I got WinXP w/SP1 to work no problems. But now, when I tried it using AutoPatcher, and wasting THREE cd's in the process. I did the Nero settings VERBATIM as I found on here and other sites, and my systems still wouldn't boot from it

I might try it again using some CD-RW's or something.

you should use nlite, it lets you create unattended installations with some of the XP fat trimmed off.

So you lost, uh, $.60 or so? Thats tough... I'd give up too. Seriously, it's more of a time issue... I know. Just kidding.

I followed http://www.windows-help.net/Wi.../winxp-sp2-bootcd.html that link and had no problems making the CD, but, I wouldn't say it was a simple thing to do.

I use nLite just to make a smaller XP. Example: Take an almost 500 meg XP and nLite will trim it down to a NICE 140 meg image, hehe, ol and it can go smaller as well. That's wut you gotta love about nLite ... ol and that kewl looking N it places in the System Props. I do have a issue with it thoe ~~~ Whenever I slipstream SP2 and then installing the system there is no user names for the proccesses in the Windows Task Manager no matter how many times I restart the system.

Enjoy

Sorry to dig up this old post, but I have a tough time following that last process.

"You should now have a single ISO file sitting on your Hard Disk; it's an image dump of a CD which you can burn to CD using a capable burning application that supports ISO files. For Nero, you would go to File > Burn Image > select your ISO file, and start burning. It's as simple as that!

If you have issues such as file copy errors or a non-bootable disc, try burning at a lower speed (16x) and selecting Disc-at-Once if possible rather than Track-at-Once. If you need help, please ask in the Windows XP forum, NOT the nLite forum."

I got SP2 slipstreamed into XP Pro, but don't know how to integrate the final ISO image file (the one with all the personal info like CD-key, time, date passwords, etc.) into the slipstreamed cd. I could only get the minimal install stuff together, but can't enter in extra drivers and such. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Slipstreaming a windows Service Pack update onto a cd does not make the CD booteable. But you can do that easily with the previously mentioned methods...all you do is basically put some extra files on the CD to make it booteable.

Anybody know what might be wrong? When I copy the contents of my XP CD to my hard drive to slipstream, the total size of the copied files is over 800 meg. That's too much for a CD! How can that be?

Thanks!
