It's a great case at a great price. It's very solid, well-built, very quiet, and good looking. I am very happy with mine. For those who appreciate a simple, functional, well-priced, and very well-designed case, the Slk300B is awesome.

Anyone! Here I am. Anyone

Amazon.com was selling these for $50 shipped iirc.

Very good buy at $50.

If I was setting up this case the HDs would be installed in the bottom two spots so as to not
impeed air flow. The front grill might be cut-out and a wire grill installed. Might do the same
to the exhaust.
I'm not a fan of blow holes or side cover fans and would use one only if necessary.
I don't care for front panel doors, many like them. To each their own.

It's a good case and spcr gives it a decent review.

Spoot, search this forum for this case in title or summary as much has been posted about it.

I bought my sister a SkyHawk and I have two Lian Li mid-towers. Never worked an Antec.

Both Amazon and Provantage.com were selling them for ~$50. shipped. I think that deal ended at Amazon but it may still be going on at Provantage. Hard to beat for $50. shipped.

.bh.

And most Antec doors are fragile - gotta cut corners somewhere...

re slk3000b:
just a pity that door doesn't open fully like sonata II
and
only front usb not audio/firewire

otherwise
it would go from
good case
to
great case

It is an excellent case in the $50 range, alongside the CompuCase LX-6A19 and the cheap 1.2mm SkyHawks.

wouldn't argue slk3000b is a good case
(am considering it myself)
but
factor in a decent power supply
and
it is arguably competing with the likes of
sonata II and tx1050b
both of which
offer
fully opening doors
and
fully configured fronts.

In that price range they are about as good as it gets...In my humble opinion.

Here are some pics of mods that I do on the SLK3000B

SLK3000B pic 1

SLK3000B pic 2

As you can see a 38m/m 120 will fit for the front fan...92m/m blow hole and the 120 mounted to the back of the motherboard tray.

Excellent thermal performance...Great setup if you are into overclocking on air.

I used screws to put in my 120 x 38mm Panaflo L1A's into my SLK3000B.

The front one comes close to the HDD cage but fits without problems.

lemme ask this...would it be worth it to me, if i wanted a nice silent computer with good cooling, to go the extra mile and get a P180?

I have a 3000B, a P180 and a P150. I moved the system I work with most of the day from the 3000B to the P180. The 3000B was extremely quiet, but the same system in the P180 is silent (to me).

Ultimately, I think it's a matter of what you want to spend for a little bit more. I'm fortunate to have a good income, so I can readily afford a little fanaticism and the P180. But the 3000B is very, very good (assuming your internal parts are quiet), and I'm glad to use it for my son's system. Altlhough I don't like his computer to be obtrusive, he always has the TV and a boom box playing at the same time, so it's only a matter of principle for me; he could care less.

The 3000B is one of the best computer case layouts/packages ever IMHO.. I have used many of the variant of this case (Compucase 6A19) at work and they are just fantastic. The compucases even came with a 300W Sparkle Fortron power supply up until recently. I have no problem recommending them as the best price/performance ratio chassis available to this day.. They are really a great design.

I dont have a proper camera or digicam so I can take a few photos with my phone for you when I get the time.

My wiring job is hopeless but I cant be bothered to fiddle with it when temps are fine.

I have one of the 6A19 cases housing my main rig and like it. You got a Fortron/Sparkle? Mine came with an HEC. They look just like the Forton/Sparkle units, but I think may be of their own manufacture. Those were really nice PSUs back in the day, though now 20 pin ATX and "only" 300W is getting a bit long in the tooth.

LOL...Well on the door thing...I take them off.

I pair them with a 400 Watt Fortron Blue Storm on most of my standard builds.

Great setup for cheap.

Not the best choice for power supplys in that price range but seems to be the best combination I can walk in Directron and buy without having to order anything.

5 volt the Sanyo Denki's...7 volt the 92m/m Panaflo blow hole fan and mount the tri-speed Antec fan and set at the lowest setting.

In the box that I linked the pics to the AMD heat sink is easily the loudest fan in the system.

For 50 bucks I dont think you can beat the Antec SLK3000B with a bat...And not even hammer can touch that !!!!
