What can I do to fixes a slow booting computer running windows 2000?
It hangs for a long time when loading mup.sys
I do have it on a network, does it have anything to do with that?
The computer is a 1gig(AMD) 256mg of ram and a 30gig HD
You might want to check your version of mup.sys. What kind of network environment are you on? Try to minimize your protocol stack if possible. NT 4 pre service pack 4 had this problem on Microsoft/Novell networks.
The network is just a small(three computer) home network. One computer runs ME(boots fast), the server runs W2K and it boot fast, and My computer runs W2K and boots really slow
The only protocol I have running is TCP/IP and NETBEUI
Do you think Win2k is booting slow compared to winME or is booting slow compared to other Win2K machines.. Because Win2K is a slow booting OS all together.. Boots no where close to as fast as Me or 9X..
He mentioned that the server ran Win2k and booted fast so I'd say he means compared to other win2k machines. I don't know how to fix it though. My machine used to pause for a bit every time it loaded the highpoint drivers for win2k.
