Slow internet except ethernet?

I'm having some problems. I sold my Apple Airport Extreme to get the tmobile AC 1900 which is supposed to be a rebranded Asus 680 (got it on free lease hence the reason for selling). Using the internet on the desktop directly connected via ETHERNET to the router, browsing is fast and downloads are great. A recent speedtest yielded 120/12.5. But on my iPhone 6 Plus, or my other desktop connected via POWERLINE the ping times are greater than 1100 and the down/up are under 0.5 each. Any reason why this might be happening?

Use of other electrical devices besides homeplugs all introduce noise into the home grid that can drastically affect powerline ethernet performance. You may need powerline conditioners.

I noticed someone placed it on a power plug. Replugged directly into the wall socket and now getting the expected speeds/ping.

connected to 5ghz on the iPhone and now it seems everything is great.
