Slowing down way below speed limit b/c cop on the road...

Why the fuck do people do this? The posted speed limit is 45 MPH, but omg, I looked in my rear view mirror and I see a police cruiser! MUST SLOW DOWN TO 30 MPH! Newsflash shithead - the cop isn't going to pull you over for going 45. In fact, he's probably just as pissed as I am that some fat kid on a bicycle is now riding by faster than we are.

This happens all the time - 3 fucking lanes and everyone is petrified of actually putting their foot on the gas pedal. We need to replace "speed limit" signs with "speed" signs - the speed of this road is 45mph - drive faster, risk a ticket, drive slower, Jeeebus is authorized to throw a roll of pennies at you and then rage on ATOT about you.

My hate for these people is pure.

I've had idiot drivers who come to a complete stop at a merge onto a 55/65mph highway because they were afraid of the cars on the left. I wish those people would die in a fire, a very hot fire.

If everyone is 55, he will be there the whole way since people have nowhere to go - it's just completely uncomfortable. If a few people are 60, at least he won't pull them all over and people can move around. The cop is always a few above trying to get out anyway.

My wife tried doing that with me in the passenger seat two weeks ago. I said "Are you freaking kidding me? Are you gonna merge into a 65mph highway at 40?!?!?!?" Shes like "Oh geez! No wonder it looked like everyone was going so fast and I couldn't get over."

Makes me wonder what she does when I'm not there, lol. My apologies for all those of you who have to drive with her on the road.

But on the rate occasion there is room, I feel like a god damned super hero when I pass a cop while I am going the speed limit and he's stuck behind someone going 10 under.

Yeah, I've seen people slow down when a cop is around, but I think they genrally keep it at the speed limit or a little above.

I agree with the points mentioned above. I also hate when people merge from the left into the right lane while other people are merging into the same right lane from an onramp. And they do this when there's no immediate upcoming exit.

Where I live there is a section of road with a speed limit of 70 that suddenly drops to 50 for several miles (there are some houses and a school, the road is undivided, and lots of accidents happen there). The highway patrol keeps a very close eye on this road and dings people all the time.

One day I was going 50 in the right lane when a cop slowly pulled up next to me in the left lane and stayed even. We got to a decent hill and on the downslope I let the car coast (Corolla in drive with an automatic). My car slowly started picking up speed, 51, 52... I could let it coast, ride the brake, or downshift (in an automatic). I let it coast.

Every time I got half a car length ahead of the cop (he knew I was going 51 or 52 in a 50) he'd honk his horn, flash his lights, or whoop his siren. I looked over and he and his partner were laughing like hyenas.

Don't blame other drivers if they get overly cautious with cops around, blame cops for being asshats.

I like when a cop decides to get in the middle lane and go exactly the speed limit and stays there. Hardly anyone wants to pass them out of fear, last month I was on the freeway in the slow lane and a CHP did this for about 15 miles, and oddly enough everyone was driving like they should have been if the CHP wasn't around. Since I never speed it was awesome to watch because I know a lot of those people were sitting in their rides cursing the officer.

I was once on the Jersey turnpike and was cruising at 95MPH just a few feet behind a State Trooper. Everyone was following the traffic flow and he didn't care.

Had that happen to me about a month ago. Wasn't a highway, but it was a "leaf" style on-ramp onto a 55mph road. The woman in front of me, yes, it was a woman, completely stopped just before she was supposed to merge and waited for an opening in traffic instead of actually merging. I passed the car later on because I wanted to see who the driver was (as if that would have been any surprise), she looked 40-50 year old mexican woman to me, but my passenger thought she was Asian, not sure who's right, it was night and raining. Anyway, I'm just glad I always give extra distance on ramps just in case people do stupid stuff like that.

I have never had to stop to get on a highway, ever. If you can't find a car length at 60-65mph that you can squeeze into you might want to consider letting someone else drive.
