I have $300 or less to build something to run WoW and surf the net.

That's essentially a $180 PC without the OS... and it lacks a power supply. If it did have a power supply, it could probably run WOW bearably at a low resolution. However I think you'd be better off with a prebuilt on this budget, like this: Gateway DX refurb $284 AP (A6-5400K, Radeon 7540D, 6GB, 1TB, win 8). (this is how well it plays WoW!)

It would help if, as with all build threads, you posted answers to the questions in the sticky.

Also, "help" is a very uninformative thread title, please edit it to "help, will this play WoW" or something.

You're losing a ton of budget to the windows license. You can pick up Ubuntu for whatever sized donation you'd like, and apparently WoW now plays very well with WINE.

Doing 2 builds, this one is for WoW and homework on a $400 or less budget.

I am doing 1 with a haswell CPU and this one with whatever as long as it doesn't exceed my friends $400 or less budget.

Building in November.

What is the screen resolution you are gaming at? That will help determine whether the graphics on the A4-3300 will handle it. The graphics are not exactly very powerful; it is slightly worse than a Radeon 6450.

I think your 3870K build should be enough, but there are a couple of modifications I'd suggest.

This G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 RAM is only available today as it is a Newegg Shell Shocker deal.

I would strongly advise you to stay away from Coolmax. Tested units have had poor reviews from sites like jonnyGURU or Hardware Secrets. Newegg photos contain the UR code "e308604", which led me to this review after a google search of that number.

Instead, I'd suggest the Corsair CX500 or Antec VP-450. The CX500 and CX500M is cheaper, but that is after rebate and promos. The Antec costs about $38 at Amazon. For a computer with just integrated graphics, you don't need a ton of wattage, but these are the best prices for PSUs that are not total garbage right now.

i would likely to say that go with amd fx 6300 +hd7750....if u want to play WoW at 45+fps at ultra....

$400 is definitely possible. Given that you need a Windows license, you're still in the range where a prebuilt with a higher-end APU could make sense. Just depends on what the deals are at the time.

I am going to give her the RAM that I was saving for my intel build and a extra power supply I have laying around, it's a really cheap one.

Don't do that. Wait until you have enough saved up to buy all the parts at once. Otherwise you'll be SOL if the part you bought first is DOA because it'll be outside the return window.

That seems fine assuming you have some compatible RAM and a suitable PSU laying around.

It's 8gb patriot and a 460w psu but not 80 plus certified.

As for the PSU, gonna guess that it is a Cooler Master, but really, we need to know the brand.
