Not in Canada they're not.
Smart Fortwo Passion - $20,500 WHAT THE FUCK
link

Anyone who pays that is a retard. Full stop.

i parked next to one yesterday, kids were making fun of it. they were laughing at the passion label on it and i was reminded of this. way too much money for that thing. my kids always tell me to toss them in the back of the truck when we see them in a parking lot. im really curious if it would fit lol.

Also, if I had a gun I would totally shoot people who try to merge going 30mph. HIT THE GAS YOU DAMN RETARDS!!@!kljsdf l;kajsdf;lkajsdf asdds s:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

i hate it when im doing 68mph in the entrance lane and some douche behind on the freeway speeds up and has to cut me off to get into the exit lane. and i do have a gun. why do people assume big truck means slow?

Seems to depend how new the truck is.
new truck --> young guy who drives way too fast
older truck --> takes 20 minutes to get up to 40mph

Not sure why that is. A truck that can pull a camper shouldn't have any problem accelerating. Similarly, old people in 400HP luxury cars seem to have a hard time getting up to the speed limit regardless of what that limit is.

mines not really that old, just 10 years old. it gets up and goes, im still in 4th gear cruising at 68-70 when i hit the freeway. when its late and the freeway is pretty empty, ill be at 80ish by the time i hit the freeway. i love my truck. id love it more if it got 20+mpg tho.

just to add something.
my mom recently got one. why? b/c she said it was 'cute'

however, this thing is mediocre in every way imaginable.
- i think the standard warrany was only for 24,000 miles.
- not that great gas mileage (for the size)
- you have to use premium gas.
- 3 cylinder is awful. mash down the pedal and it *slooowly* accelerates.
- there is no spare. not even one of those little ones. oh but there is a repair kit. however, the front and back tires are different sizes. so even if you put a spare in the back 'trunk' you only have 50/50 chance if you have a blowout.

- the automatic transmission literally LURCHES when it shifts gears. the manual pedals on the steering wheel do a much better job.

oh, but did i mention its cute?

The wife thinks they are just plain cute...

Me I`m scared to death to think what would happen if I hit one with my 2500HD...? :hmm: Some how just dont think it would work out to well...?
The crash test videos of those little things show them flying off the ground during impacts.

If I remember correctly, a 30mph crash into another car sent the smart up in the air with the back wheels fully off the ground.

Apparently it scored well though, I can't imagine a violent rebound off of a crash would be good for me in the seat....especially since I'd need a hair cut just to miss the roof when sitting.

Here in Quebec, you can buy a brand new Aveo or Accent for $10k
The Smart is closer to $20k

It's just utterly horrible. I would take a Mazda2, Fiesta, Accent, anything over the Smart.

Depends on the trim level. The base is roughly $13,500. That's bare bones with no A/C. The passion package with A/C is $18,000. By comparison, a Ford Fiesta is $1000 to $3000 cheaper with similar configuration. Smart only bests the Fiesta by 3mpg, even though the Fiesta has a 120hp engine. The Fiesta also takes regular instead of premium.

How are these things still alive anyway? I thought MB/Chrysler (Smart's parents?) were losing money like crazy on the stupid company?

If we can't have Pontiac and thus a G8 then women and hair dressers can't have smarts.

LOL!!! What a glowing review. Its amazing that people still buy this car given how crappy it is in every aspect....except being cute apparently.

I like the Smart car... because it makes my MINI look practical in comparison

Seriously... my MINI is the same price as the Smart car, but it's more powerful, handles better, has more passenger room and cargo space, has a better transmission, is considered to be more reliable, and gets better gas mileage.

Oh, and it looks cooler while still being cute

actually something else. i forgot to mention how rough the ride is. when you hit uneven road or pothole, you'll certainly feel it.

as for road noise, thats subjective, so i cant say if its worse than normal. but it certainly isnt the quietest ride either.
its also going to be difficult to service this vehicle if anything serious happens. closest certified tech is 3+ hrs away =/

yeah and about the post above, i was hoping to show them a mini, but this was kind of a spontaneous spur of the moment buy for them.

Believe it or not some people just buy cars because of this. Smugness has nothing to do with it whatsoever.

Now truck and SUV owners on the other hand, they all have tiny wee wees.

These pieces of garbage take Premium, too?! I didn't know that.

My question is.. WHY? HOW? How do you manage to make a 1.0L engine that makes 70HP and requires premium fuel, yet gets 40MPG on the highway?

It's unfathomable. Why does this piece of shit exist? It makes me angry just thinking about it.

The Insight's 1.0L 3 cylinder(by itself) is very similar overall:

67HP @ 5700RPM
66ftlbs @ 4800RPM

Smart:

70HP @ 5800RPM
68ftlbs @ 4500RPM

But it uses Regular. And can net you 80+MPG. And the Insight weighs 50lbs more.

These little toy cars should be turbocharged up the ass. Put 150HP in something tiny like that and it would be a blast to drive.

they did some study i saw (which i thought was bs) that said they would basically ping pong when hit. not sure how large a car would have to be to crush it instead tho.

id love to do this with one tho. i think it would be a crack up.

Looks what happens when the average size/weight(3600lbs) sedan....

Now imagine what happens if it would crash into your 2500HD 6k lbs truck would do lol

and Imagine the load on your organs and spine crashing and decelerating to be instantly accelerated upon impact. ewww

That is probably the harshest review I have read for any product.

To keep ourselves entertained, we investigated how much of our lunch commute we could perform at absolute full throttle. Turns out, most of it could be handled in this fashion. In fact, if you are not actively on the brakes, you’ll likely have it floored.
