Smart phone + skype, advice?

Looking at getting a smart phone, not hooking it up to a telco, and just using it around hte house via the wifi for mostly skype type things. It was $3/month for skype unlimited nationwide calling.

Checking here with the experts, anyone else do this? Anything I'm overlooking?

Would work fine... just remember its outbound only. If you want to have a phone number people can call that will ring your skype it will be $60/yr.

Republic wireless offers similar options, take a look? ($5 for wifi-only talk/text, $10 for wifi+sprint text/talk)

you are limited to their phones and ROMs though (no custom ROMs since wifi calling is baked into the ROM)

not bad at all, it's about 1/10 the price of anything else.

I just use it as a back up number and performance is very good as long as WiFi signal is stable. Better than other services I've tried. I did not do cost analysis because I do not use it that often, though.
