I am very happy with the battery life of my Motorola Droid Maxx but I'm wondering about battery life off the newer phones. All the sites I Google for longest battery life phones give different answers. So what are the top smart phones as far as battery life.

Moto z force and moto z play are two that come to mind. They both have good battery life and they also support the "moto mod" battery packs that attach on the back with magnets.

Edit: they both have 3500mAh batteries. The moto z play has a full HD screen and a battery sipping snapdragon 625 and is the better out of the two in battery life.

I'd say depends on what you it for.

S7 already has a 3,000/3600 mAh battery plus has an option to limit games to 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS to extend battery time while gaming (kids use that for all day Pokémon hunting). Also has an Ultra battery saver option which switches the amoled screen to B&W mode (amongst other things) and a single phone charge can last for days, use that when camping.

Really depends on what you use it for.

Yeah just got a S7 Edge. With light usage and I mean light (GPS off, BT off mostly, NFC off,...) it lasts 3 days. I do some messaging and surfing the web. Always on display is off but I use the Night Watch functionality (small always-on with clock on edge display.)

My old phone I got 1 day if I was lucky. And heavy usage (eg display on) had a much bigger effect on battery drain.

I'm not sure, but I have a trip coming up that I'll be going about 7-9 days without electricity so I ordered a spare battery and sd card for my LG V20 as well as 2 solar USB battery packs for her and I because I don't want to run out of power.

Other than that to be honest I don't care because I have a charger at my desk and in my car so it's a moot point for my usage.

If the area of your forthcoming trip has no electric power, there may be no active cell available. Anyway, I too still use a Droid Maxx, and its battery life is very good. When I use it as a hotspot, that drains battery quicker than plain phone. But, that use also lets me connect it to my lap'top's USB port and the charge is maintained.

Basically, from the mainstream brands in the west, it's just Samsung, Samsung, Samsung at the top.

Xiaomi puts huge batteries on their budget phones, but smaller on the flagships, go figure.

Huawei has Mate 8, but that is not for everyone (6" phablet).

It's pretty pathetic actually. Form over function all the way.

The huawei mate 9 is apparently going to have a 4000mAh battery. Its screen is big at 5 .9" but the battery is still relatively large (not including Chinese low/mid rangers with massive batteries).

The Honor 8 with its 3000 mAh last 4 days with light use (without facebook/insta and exchange), after I installed a bunch of data heavy apps it dropped to 2.5-3 depending on if I let the battery firewall turn off unnecessary apps. In my typical browsing, mail, social media, YouTube/Netflix work loads I can get 2 days.

My previous phone with 3500 mAh did barely last a day.

Depends heavily on how you use it, but I just pulled mine out of my pocket at 7PM after a day of light usage, and have 71% battery remaining.

Yup we'll be in Tanzania, but I still expect to take a lot of pictures with the phone as well as play games and hit up Wifi when it's available.

I bought a second hand Galaxy J5 https://goo.gl/photos/yCZrm9KSDpY9i2ch6 and have this battery life graph. I unplugged in on Monday morning and it lasted until midway through Wednesday. Monday was normal usage as was Tuesday but I will admit I was nursing it on Wednesday to see if it could do 3 work days (an unexpected whatsapp call over 3G killed it with the sudden drop off at the end).

EDIT: it appears you can't link a google photos as an image

I don't know what constitutes "light usage" for you guys, which is why giving the time in days I ridiculous. 4 days? That's basically not using it at all, with having to manually turn of radios and whatnot.

Screen on time is also not perfect, but still much better.

Good luck with that. Sounds like a great trip. Not sure I would trust Wi-Fi in Tanzania.

How lomg does the S7 battery life normally last ?

I never timed anything, but I use my phone all day for work so I'd consider myself a non-gaming above average phone user and normally get between 10 to 14 hours heavy use on a charge. Currently my 7 day average looks to be about 12 hours.

On weekends the last thing I want to see is my phone so I basically have everything off except calls and can easily go 2 days without a charge.

The S7 can also fully charge from empty in about 90 minutes. So a 15 minute quick charge can go a long way.

Edit: I use the Samsung Exynos 8890 8-core big.LITTLE version.

i have an S6 and S7 as a work phone. last two personal phones were a moto x 2015 and nexus 5x.

moto x 2015 and nexus 5x had roughly equivalent battery life. for my uses the nexus might have actually edged out the moto x slightly (qhd screen i'm guessing).

I used the S6 with my personal sim for about a week and it was a bit better than either nexus 5x or moto x 2015. S7 i've never really put a sim card in , but i can't see how it'd have less than the s6.

i currently have the moto z play GSM. Ridiculous battery life. It could possibly be triple the useable battery life of the 2015 moto x or nexus 5x. more than double at the very least
