Also, preferably Android OS? I have a Nexus 4 and I really like. I have a friend who is looking for a smartphone but doesn't really want to spend too much. What are you guys suggestions?
Nexus S, galaxy S 2, iPhone 4, droid bionic in that order, or lumia 520... The S2 is better than the nexus but you may not be able to find it for under 100, when second hand moto G's become common it will be the phone to get.
Well if he can live without android the lumia 520 is going on sale for $60 on friday at tiger-direct. Most android phones are pretty shitty for $100 with few exceptions unless you go Chinese.
If he goes the chinese route expect no software updates and likely little customer support. Other than that it should be ok. You're obviously not going to be getting anything on the same league as an S4, N5, Moto X etc. So he should expect to get a lesser experience. Battery won't be as good, and the $100 Chinese phones come with dual and quad core cpus but only 512mb of ram.
I personally would either get a 520 or scrape together another $70 and get the Moto G
Shouldn't the Galaxy Nexus be down to just a little over $100 used? I can't fathom putting up with a Nexus S when a few extra bucks buys a Gnex. The S has got to be sucking wind by now--it's so old.
I'd still stretch it to the Moto G though. So much more phone than either, and still less than $200.
