Anybody ever eat at Island Burger? I had it once last year, haven't been back because I haven't been in the area.

In the end, even a place capable of great burgers can serve you crap due to varying quality of their meat sourcing and the abilities of whomever is cooking that day. I wouldn't hesitate to believe that the work quality of someone making close to minimum wage doing a mind-numbingly awful position may not really care about the end result all that much.

I think the exception to this is McDonald's, which somehow has mechanized their training and cooking systems to the point where 99% of the time it tastes like exactly the same mediocre fare whereever and whenever you order

Although, what about the whole "just because it's pink doesn't mean it's undercooked" thing? However, I doubt that burger flippers are sitting there with meat thermometers to ensure that it reached... 150F (I think that's right... and 165F for poultry).
There's no such thing as pink ground beef that has been fully cooked. It can change color before the meat reaches 160F throughout, but by the time it hits 160F it will definitely have changed color.

This also means the opposite is true: just because ground beef is brown doesn't mean it's been fully cooked. Which is why the USDA recommends a meat thermometer for cooking ground beef.

Many people assume that if a hamburger is brown in the middle, it is done. However, looking at the color and texture of food is not enough—you have to use a food thermometer to be sure! According to USDA research, 1 out of every 4 hamburgers turns brown before it reaches a safe internal temperature. The only safe way to know if meat, poultry, and egg dishes are "done" is to use a food thermometer. When a hamburger is cooked to 160 °F as measured with a food thermometer, it is both safe and delicious!

They have this place in Cambridge, MA called 4Burgers. It's 6-7 dollars a burger. i am not paying 6-7 bucks for a burger.

...$6-7 is nothing. Most burgers at non-fast food places around here are over $10. I had this one the other day for $16 and it was worth every penny!
