I got the same "backorder" message from them. Buycom still lists it as "usually ships in 24 to 48 hours", though. Perhaps they should update this.

Actually I have ordered from Buy.com and have had the item in my hands before the status of my order gets past the sent to warehouse stage. I think the order status does not get updated untill to shipped untill the following day it was actually shipped. In my case the stuff usually comes out of the Carol Stream warehouse (near Chicago) and gets here in one day. So by the time they can change my order status to shipped, the UPS man had already dropped it off.

This may not be fact, but was told to me when I ordered a Dreamcast before a friend of mine, and he got his and I was backordered. Take it with a grain of salt ...

Sometimes, the reason the item will list as still being in stock, is because at ONE of the many warehouses ... it is. However, when you order, it's automatically sent to the warehouse closest to you. The stock levels are not real-time, but they are close.

Problem is, when you call for status, they only check THAT warehouse. When you call, find out if they can move your order to another warehouse. Not every CSR will do this, but it's possible.

The Buy.com system is NOT FIFO. Don't assume just because someone ordered after you and got the item that you will as well. It's all based off when and to what warehouse your order was sent. Supposedly, this was to make Buy.com more efficient.

It hasnt expired. When I called to check status they said it expires at the end of the month. Also it is still on their site. You must have gotten wrong info...

Yippe. Its finally time that people who try to profit from this site get a dose of reality. I ordered two, both for lanparties. Now, I'm almost tempted to go bid on some from on e-bay, just to leave negative feedback.

E-mail them back with this link (Rebates, Page 5) and ask him why it's still listed and has an expiration date of March 31st. It doesn't say "while supplies last".

Thats a clip right from the email they sent me. I replyed back asking for them to check it. Ill keep you posted.

All I know is I better know if Im going to get the second switch or not soon so I can cancel my order or wait.

No, you do not get more priotory for an item if you get better shipping. It turns out my 4 were shipped and I should get them Wednesday depending on weather!

I'm confused now. When an item is backordered from buy.com. Do they send you an e-mail? I haven't recieved anything, but it still says sent to warehouse. What is there typical processing time?

From the PDF file it looks like there is one in the back. It should not make much noise though. My 5 port has a fan in it and does not make much noise at all.

I didn't go to TournOrochi cuz it was too far (norcal) but I am going to go and enter the AI tourney this month.
