I called this morning. 3/9/01 and was told the E-Mails are being sent and all 'free' switches are being shipped by the 16th.

Lovely! Best deal I've gotten in on on a while!

I would suggest to all of you who cancelled your orders as a result of Customer Service telling you [they - Buy.com] would not honor this promotion - that you call and Bitch very loudly about having your order reinstated since you cancelled your order based upon incorrect information from their Customer Service department.

Just got an email and confirmed with a CSR, I will be getting my free switch sometime near the end of the month. I guess all worked out in the end...

NOTE TO ALL SELLING ON E-BAY:

The switches only have 3.2gb of interanl bandwith. A lot of people are saying 4.8. That is for the 24 port. Think about it here...16 port X 200mbps = 3.2gb. I would not reccomend lieing to customers about the switch.

got my email, Friday, March 09, 2001 11:24 AM, about the same time that i got my box w/one switch delivered! now i really wish i wouldve ordered more than 1....darn

and btw, it doesnt take too much smarts to figure out peak bandwidth of a 10/100 switch...but leave it up to egay sellers to 'oversell' it the best they can I duno about y'all, but i make sure i know the product specs from a VALID source before making a purchase from someone selling on egay!

Also got another e-mail this morning stating that they are still wokring on trying to ship out my order, so I guess mine won't be here for atleast another week. then the second switch by the end of the month.

Glad to see Buy.com ecided not to Screw the customer like they did on the monitors, and like so mant other places did on thier product with "misprints" or "typos".... Buy.com just gained a ittle more respect from me because of this.

Greed Kills deals faster than anything else. For those who orderd buttloads just to offload to Eb@y its pretty sad that you guys are trolling here just to make a quick buck.
Just imagine if people shared the wealth.. no one would be poor. But our society now a day is geared twords the quick buck and not worrying about who you step on in the process. It good business for Buy.com to make good on these but for future deals just keep in mind that the company is doing the customer a favor by allowing the mistake and hopfully more than just a couple of greedy people are able to get a good deal out of it.

I go to an occupational school in the L.A area where I'm currently enrolled in a networking class. Being in the L.A school district, funds are rather scarce so any good quality equipment that we can get cheap is always welcome. I told my instructor about the SMC switch deal after seeing it here. He had to jump some hoops to get budgetary permission from his supervisor but he was able to get the order off before the Tuesday deadline.
We're definitely looking forward to using them and replacing the 8 year old hubs that we're currently using.

I know it sounds like a pathetic sob story but what the heck, eh.
