Microcenter

Price drop from $56.99 to $51.99

$51.99-$42MIR (bottom of page) = $9.99

Current rebate ends 10/02/2005

I've been testing this thing and it works very nicely. WPA works perfectly unlike with my Netgear (I'm using a Netgear PCMCIA card too). It is kind of heavy for it's size which is nice and it feels like a nice quality product. SMC stuff has always been good to me and they have been good with rebates for me too.

Enjoy!

i had an old smc 802.11b that thing was SOLID... and i got it really cheap. too bad its signal started getting really flaky after about a year... but for the price and to get one that fully featured i have no regrets.

I have this router. Got it from microcenter as well - for $10 AR earlier this summer! Router works great. Got it running WPA as well. Microcenter sent me my money back too! Good deal

I think this deal is worth a bump.

I have a total of three of these in service right now and I could not be happier with them. They just plain work.

Thanks,

I have a SMC2804WBR Barricade G currently being repaired/replaced. It worked great for about two months, had the best transmit power of any router I've used to date. Then began dropping the connection one...then two...then three times per day, requiring a power cycle to fix. Oh well, its under warranty. That was one of those $10 AMIR deals from Micro Center.

I have a really old SMC 4 port wired router I've used for years. It's my main router at home running DHCP and everything. It's the kind that has the built in parallel port to make it a print server as well (but I don't use that port any more).

I'd recommend SMC to anyone. Never had a problem at all.

Only problem is it's ugly.

EDIT:

Looks like Microcenter's website has the wrong model number. It's actually a: SMCWBR14-G
http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=viewProduct&localeCode=EN_USA&pid=1385

Damn... Nice range.
Maximum Range Outdoors - 1,312 Feet (400 Meters)
Maximum Range Indoors - 328 Feet (100 Meters)

Anyone that has this, does it have the screw holes on the back so you can mount it to the wall? Otherwise I'll have to get some sticky velcro tape or something...

I've had 2 smc704awb(?...something like that) and one kept resetting and one was slower than my linksys that I'm using now. I'm not impress with them...atleast not of the batches that I got (bought at the same time.)

Oh well. I'm ordering one right now anyway. Can't pass it up for only $15.

EDIT: Hmm, WTF. Their site says my addres doesn't match my credit card. Dumbass online store they are using I guess. *mutter*

I'm still trying to order one. MicroCenter's online store is broken and keeps rejecting my Credit Card info. They said I have to call them on Monday... *sigh*

Microcenter rebates are pretty good. I've probably had about 10 of them and they all came pretty fast. I bought this router for my mom back in June and it's been pretty good.

Hmm... What do you guys think about the rebate stating model #SMCBR14-G, And this being model #SMCWBR14-G?

Think SMC will reject the rebates?

It's just a typo with the Microcenter website. The item listed at Microcenter is actually the SMCBR14-G (which is what the rebate says). Since the rebate is on purchases made at Microcenter, there should be no issues...

I shuld be getting mine today. Had to call them on Monday to order the item because their website didn't like my address or something. But it shipped the same day and Fedex.com says it'll get there today. Then I can pass on my B router to the In-Laws who are signing up for roadrunner for their laptop. heh.

I already purchased the 3Com.
Just out of curiousity, anyone know how the SMC compares to the 3Com for range, speed and reliability? (both are G)

I only wish I purchased the Belkin Pre-N router from CompU a couple weeks back for $50.
