Well I have to say that I am very impressed with the quality of this phone. It's top notch. And the software that accompanies it is top notch. The clarity is great and the features are terrific.

The phone took 3 hours to fully charge and the software installed easily. I wish I could've gotten my hands on a few more, but my local store only had one left.

I sat here wondering why this company went out of business and it seemed to me that this device might have been slightly ahead of it's time. It's a tweakers dream. And even if you don't use the software you end up with a 2.4ghz Ericsson Cordless for $29!!

If anyone in the greater Sacramento (CA) area has a base they're willing to sell please let me know. I found a handset but couldn't find any bases. The South Sac store showed 4 total but there were only 2 actual units in the store when I called and they had been reserved.

There is a store with a display model but I wasn't too sure whether or not it was a working model so I decided against buying it.

My buddy tracked a few down. He's on his way to the store to talk to the manager, because he rang the price up as $349.99 still (or whatever it was), but the other store in his area has it coming up as $29.22. The manager at his store wasn't pleased over the phone, he couldn't be dealt with. I'll post more info about it later, and if there happen to be any left.

CompUSA carries the CyberGenie and has them in some stores (not available online). They are rather pricey though.... do I smell a pricematch?

Thanks FrankRizzo, I just call the CompUSA near my work, their phone system is kinda funny, instead of the local store, I got a national lookup for all their stores. The CSR was very helpful, she help my track a couple of them down. She even knew about pricematching with Office Depot. I got 4 on hold and going to pick them up after work.

COMPUSA WILL NOT PRICE MATCH DISCONTINUED ITEMS. and their cost is $110 anyway so that was the lowest they'd go. My friend and I tried 3 stores in person.

I'm no moderator, so I don't presume to recite the rules of this Hot Deals forum; however, I would suspect that this forum was designed as a means for people who find great deals to share the knowledge of such deals with the goal to help others out. It seems that some people out there, however, abuse this forum by reading about great deals and then buying up every last one of the hot items they can for the purpose of profiting on e-gay or the like. Perhaps I am off-base here, but I see that as outside of the spirit of this forum.

I wouldn't have been able to get any others if not for my family and friends.

I checked the OD's in Mesa, AZ, Staples and Office Max too.
CompUSA did not have any either.

I am completely out of luck.

FWIW, I noticed that one of my CyberGenies had been opened and did not have the battery for the phone or the USB cable. No big deal on the USB cable, but the battery......

It's actually just 3 AAA NiMH batteries wired in series and wrapped in plastic. Easy to duplicate! Thanks Ericsson!

I'll just pick some up from Thomas Distr. or perhaps just hit bestbuy for the energizer rechargeables.

I stopped by another local OD after work to get a CD External Burner for the office($269.00 OUCH) and happen to ask about CyberGenie ... none in store ... BUT they found another CyberGenie 100 miles away. I asked to buy it over the phone and pay shipping, but instead my local store offered to have it shipped back here, if I prepaid for the unit.

I have missed out on quite a few deals because items were sold out locally and I was not willing to travel. Shipping was always out of the question. While I don't think today's OD experience is a new trend twords exceptional service ... I do think a little holiday spirit ... a nice OD associate ...and a personal visit go a long way.

So I got 2 bases and 4 handsets. *** Correction 2 handsets ... I just got a look at two and one has no battery and the other is badly dammaged ... going back tomorrow

You wouldn't have gone by the OD on Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa would you? They told me someone had come in there a little earlier asking about the Genies, and called and was having one shipped from Ft. Myers FL. Meanwhile I got shut out. I did find a handset but no base module.

Don't quit looking. After the report that IL was dry I checked the home of the Fighting Illini (no. 8 in the nation, by the way) and the OD guy looked for 20 min! Found one then I called Bloomington and found 1 base and a hand-set with the bonus of 50% off DVD's. Used the 15 off code (no post card) and I'm out of there with base plus an extra handset plus Heat, Deep Impact, Payback plus 1 water for $68. Never say never.

I picked up the last one in Huntsville, TX. The manager rang it up and looked at me funny and said, "Holy Toledo! That cant be right." I have an unopened box, it includes the base and a headset. I couldnt pass up on the deal when I saw it, but after thinking about my uses for it, I decided I would like to trade the set for a DVD - ROM drive. If anyone would be willing to do so, please send me a private message. If anyone picked up on that 29 dollar Pioneer 10x DVD a while back and would like to trade that for the phone system that would be great. Thanks
