In response to Inspector Jihad... YES, I purchased a Premium Package yesterday from Microcenter.

You can get a $100 mail-in rebate from Microcenter as well as an additional $100 just for signing up for Microcenter's Visa card, and charging your 360 console on the new account number they give you.

Or, you can go the Vonage route and save yet another $100, however, like Wolverine22 mentioned, it will cost you $24.99/mo for the Vonage service.

Descisions, decisions... decisions! =)

I'd love to get the xbox 360 for free from MC if possible thru these deals:
Vonage sign-up = $200
MC Visa = $100
$100 = rebate

My question is how does the Vonage (VIP) work?
Do you need the existing land-line phone in which I have (AT&T)?

Is the Visa card an instant $100 off? I just bought an xbox off Dell using my gift card and 15% off, came down to $290

In response to MikeTheBuzzsaw, no, it's not instant. You have to go online to (www.mbnaworldpoints.com) to redeem 12,000 of your 13,000 worldpoints (which equals $100), then you can either request a check, gift certificate, or use the points to purchase airline tickets, hotel reservations, etc.

Vonage (VOIP) works through your broadband internet connection which ideally should be cable modem. This way you can ditch your landline.

Is their any advantage to the Microcenter 2 year protection plan versus the 2 year microsoft protection plan?

I don't know the details on the Microsoft protections plans...but the Microcenter 2 year plan is $59.xx and the 1 year plan is $32.xx I went for the Microcenter 1 year plan thinking that if something is going to go wrong with my 360 due to manufacturer's defect it should happen in the first year and 3 months (cross my fingers). Anyhow, I have not read the fine print on the protection plan yet, but I was told by the sales person that the way it works is the protections plan starts on the 91st day after the manufacturer's 90 day warranty is up. If something goes wrong with it, Microcenter will give you a gift card worth the purchase price of the system...$399 in the case of the premium system. You are free to buy another Xbox 360 or buy something else (like a PS3 ) with the gift card.

Has anyone other than me bought one of these? If so, when you check the status of your rebate online, does it show anything? It still says they haven't received mine. I'm starting to worry about this one.

If it is MC rebate.
There is nothing to worry about.
I purchased Plasma TV with huge rebate ($200) from MC before and received all mine back within 4 weeks. With B&M store like this, it is almost worry-free.
This time of the year however, there is a huge back-log of rebate processing every where. So delay is very possible.
Be patient!

I'm going to pick up one in Denver in a couple days - Thursday 12/13/2006. If anyone here wants one, email me. A few caveats though:

1. I don't want to get hit with a Paypal fee. Google checkout, money order, cashier's check, or you absorb the Paypal fee.

2.I don't want to deal with the rebate, I'll buy a couple on different purchases, with seperate receipts, and mail it all to you.

3. Figure a fair amount for FedEx ground ($20?), from one of my residences in either Park City (84098) or NewYork (10002).

Trying to make up for all the lurking I've done here over the years...

That is very good to know... I opted out of this deal a few weeks ago because I didn't trust the rebates. I have a bad taste in my mouth with rebates, for the most part... I mean, what legal method do we have to use if they decide they just don't want to fulfil it? Or what if they 'claim' they received it incomplete? Is there really anything you can do about it? That is the *ONLY* reason I hadn't hopped on this deal... But I am reconsidering it with your post, Videopho. Maybe I will take a chance...

Does anyone know if they still have the $100 VISA offer? Does that come in the form of a rebate, or is it applied to your next purchase with the card?

I called their Minneapolis location and they had plenty in stock (premium). I'll go there and get one sometime later this week. Anyone know if they still are doing the $100 rebate on the VISA credit card signup?

Just picked up my XBox360 Premium + 1 year replacement plan. Signed up for the Visa card and also am filling in the rebate. Hopefully, if all works out, this will have been had for $258 after both rebate checks come back.

The Bad:

These guys are total losers at Minneapolis, MN (not all of them). I cannot begin to explain how unorganized and unprofessional that business is. I have no plans to ever do business with them again in the future. If I had known about this before, I would have never went there to get my Xbox360. But since I had already wasted so much time, I figured I should go for it.

When I got there I asked them if they had any, they were like "Yes!" ok, great... I then asked them if they still has the VISA rebate, and they said Yes! Ok, great. I then went to fill out a form. First thing is that there were no pens anywhere to be found. I wondered around the store looking for someone to ask where the pens were, finally found someone and he hunted one down for me. Ok, that is done. I fill out the form and hand it to some kid who has an attitude problem. He told me it would take 10 - 15 minutes to process the application. Ok, whatever... I came back after 20 minutes and the prick told me it was still processing. I found it odd how he knew it was still in the processing stage since he didn't even check... He told me it would be another 10 - 15 minutes. I felt a vibe that this kid was just going to make it as painful as possible to get this Xbox360. So, I was like whatever and asked for my license back and informed this kid that I would be back in about 30 minutes or so. I came back in 30 minutes and the kid was gone and no one knew where my application was. They lost it! Nice... I waited for 30 minutes while they hunted it down. Then all of a sudden this guy hands me the telephone and I am like, WTF? I answer and it is some chick some Bank of America asking me some questions on my account. I answer them and gave the phone back to the rep. I was still like, WTF is going on here? So the manager tells me he will be right back and after another 15 - 20 minutes he came back and handed me my account number and said "here ya go" and then I was like, well, I came here to purchase an XBox360, I told the employee that. Then he was like "Oh... Ok, well here, get in that line and we will get ya set". So, I sat in line and finally got my fuggin Xbox360! Did I even want it after that? Not as much. It really ruined the 'good deal' type of thing.

I used to work retail (CompUSA) and know that the customers who generally try and get the deals get the least amount of service. However, a retail company should really rethink that mentality. The reason they are running those promotions is to get their name out there. If I have a asswipe experience with the company, what good will it do? I will have gotten the good deal and be spreading the bad news about them, they lose doubly! Doesn't it make more sense that if you decide to host really good deals that you fulfill them the way you would any other product? I tell you, had this gone smooth I would have considered purchasing items from this place in the future, but after this experience, I want nothing to do with them.

I pray to God that nothing happens to my Xbox, the last thing I want to do is deal with them again.

Your mileage may very, maybe I just had a bad experience. In all fairness, it was only one guy who was a prick. However, the place is understaffed. Customer service has one person running the operation and in the two hours that I was at the store, the average line wait was around 30 minutes -- Not cool!

It sounds like the experiences you typically receive in courtesy of "Used" Car Dealership.
May be you should consider writing to MC Corporate about your experience.

A nearly surreal experience for me in Denver.

All the employees there were (seemingly) loveable nerds. And there were the token 2 hot girls in this Nerdfest. "Just classic", I thought when I walked in. Perfect, there's nothing worse than going into a tech store and being hounded by someone who knows less than the product than I do. In general, folks were very knowledgeable and helpful, or just left me alone.

But when it came time to check out I handed my credit card app (for the $200 off XBox 360 deal) to one of the hotties. She was new so she gave it to her big mouth-breather of a manager. He walked around huffing and puffing with my application in hand for about 10 minutes doing 20 things at once, so I said "I'll come back in a while"
Hottie: "Ok, 15 minutes"

20 minutes later my application is on the counter, the ADD chain-wallet manager had just set my app down and gone on to other things.
"Come back in 15 minutes", he expels.

"Ready?"
"Uh, we forgot to put your application in."
"Come on, man."
"Sorry, another 15 minutes"

By this time the store is getting ready to close, I hear a constant cacophony of the employees huddling in circles and talking bad about their customers, (not the hotties by the way, it was the dorklings) and really hitting below the belt.

I go over to the PS3 to check it out and kill some time. The chubby game center guy comes over, takes the guitar from my hands and says "I'm actually pretty good at this" He plays a song, he's got no rhythm, and is having one hell of a time scoring points, but it looks fun.
He actually says "If I had some pizza my fingers would be greasier and I'd be owning this song"
He finishes the song and clicks off the machine "Closing time!"
I'm thinking, "Thanks a lot buddy, I didn't walk over here because I wanted to watch you play the game."

Exasperated, I come back to the service desk and they couldn't process my Microcenter credit app because the credit center closed 5 minutes ago.

"Sorry, we can't process your app, it's too late"
I held my tounge, but there were a hundred things I wanted to say. The guy didn't even acknowledge what had happened. I just left.

It's odd, but I went back the next morning and had a quick, easy time of it. I was out the door within 10 minutes.
