I just got the 650 minute anytime plan for $35.99. I told them the plan was not good enough so they gave me free wireless web, which is usually $10 extra. Nice. Thanks.

EDIT: DON'T PM ME ABOUT HOW CAN YOU GET A DEAL LIKE THIS PLEASE. UNLESS YOU WORKED RETAIL FOR SPRINT YOU WON'T GET IT!

NICE! Though not as good as some of the others I guess, I did manage to get this:

34.99 for 400 day and 3250 night/weekend which still starts at 8:00 PM (old was same price for 250/1250 at 8:00 PM)

Nice post man . . . I did have to sign a year contract but no biggie since I'm not moving anywhere for a year. Sprint service in my area is surprisingly pretty good (U of Virginia) . . . which btw . . . BEAT DUKE last night . . . I was there . . . WOOHOO!!!

My parent's actually got the best plan ever. They signed up way back when in San Diego when Sprint was just testing out PCS. The deal was, buy the phone and you get free unlimited service. Their bill is like $0.58 every month, taxes.

at first I upgrade to 1000 peak/2000 off-peak for my same $50 but the phone doesn't even get used that much (~400 minutes total for the month) so I decided I'd prefer paying less, so I called sprint again and now instead of my original/old 500/1500 $50 plan, now I get 600/3000 for $30. now I'm happy.

Ya know...i should follow the trend on good deals like this and buy EXTRA minutes, then just auction them off on Ebay!

Yeah...I am so there...

Bump for a hot deal...IF you can tolerate the sprint network!

Our motto "we always give customers more minutes for less....we dont loose any money because our network is always over capacity so your call will be dropped to make room for the next call"

I highly recommend the Sprint PCS equipment replacement insurance program. I think the fee is something like $5/mo. I used to have it until they kicked me out of it (heh) for submitting 2 claims in a 1 year period.

Basically, you enroll in the insurance. if your phone is lost or stolen, you simply fell out a police report, then call the insurance line (after suspending service, of course) and submit your claim. Within a few days, they will ship out a replacement unit (could be refurb or new -- their choice) to you. In one case, I was at a party (no big thing, just a small get together of friends, including kids, at my sister's former daycare provider) and sometime during the party, i realized my phone was gone. i tried calling it several times and never heard it ring. Checked all over that place as well as my car and sister's house, but it never turned up. Called the police and made a claim. Phone was shipped and I wasback to normal in a few days. The 2nd time, approximately 5 months later, i went through a security metal detector at work and placed the phone in the tray with keys and stuff. Apparently, i forgot to pick it back up and put it on my belt. It was a friday, and i didn't realize it until i got home. i made a couple of phone calls, but security didn't have any record of it. Checked again on monday, and was told someone had picked the exact model the day before. Contacted that employee, and he said he didn't have the wrong phone. Made a claim, waited a few days, and got another replacement. I had to pay thre $35 deductible each time, but i had a Motorola StarTac and it was still retailing for close to $200. About a week after i was back up and running, i got a phone call from a Sprint store telling me they had my lost phone. i went and picked it up, but it wasn't activated anymore, of course. Decided i could fight to have the old one reactivated and the new one sent back to get my $35 credit, but then decided I might as well keep it for the extra battery. They charged more than $35 for a new battery, so I came out ahead, although i didn't purposely do that. (although that would probably work if you wanted to be fraudulent about it) Anyway, I saved myself a lot of money by having that. I've now kept that last phone for about 14 months without losing it, so I'm doing well. (knock on wood)

if you bought a cheap phone (sub-$100) phone, maybe it's not worth it to you, but if you have a newer model phone, especially an expensive one, I highly recommend it just to protect your investment.

BigCheez: I'm not understanding what you mean. Can you elaborate as to what you are talking about? You called about the insurance and need to have your phone tested, or were you replying to something completely different?

Very Important thing to Note:
Depending on when you first started your SprintPCS account, you may screw yourself by switching. I'm sticking to my 500/2000 plan because if I would change my plan i'd be forced to have those extra nights/weekends minutes start at 9PM instead of my current 8PM schedule. So anyone changing plans will get stuck with nights starting at 9PM and if youre on PST like me then 9PM is a bit late to be calling anyone in EST.

Does this work for non-Sprint customers? I am currently with Alltel and have unlimited minutes for $59.99. The coverage is almost perfect with very little dropped calls. Long Distance is .35 a minute but I use a .029/minute phone card. I really need at least 1000 weekday minutes a month.

<< anyone know how spring coverage in downtown chicago is? >>

Pretty good so far. I just got signed up about a week ago. It's funny, but my wife and I have both seen this happen, that when going through the tunnel at union station or being in a building with no coverage, and then getting outside and into coverage, the phone briefly goes into roam mode and says that you'll be charged for roaming if you make the call. very annoying. Seconds later the phone goes back to the Sprint network.

Other than that, it's been fine.

Just curious, for those of you who said you got the better deal in the middle of your existing contract, how far into your contract were you? I would think this wouldn't work unless you're close to your contract running out, but maybe I'm wrong.

Couple of issues to address:

a) The 650/3000 plan for $35.99 does not offer 1st incoming minute free, so if you receive enough calls to make that factor, make sure you consider your options wisely. The N/W minutes begin at 8pm and end at 7am Mon-Thurs, and then 8pm Fri until Monday 7am. I more than doubled my anytime minutes for only $6 more, so I don't mind losing the 1st min. free. On a given month, there are no more than what, 22 weekdays? Factoring 650 mins, that breaks down to almost 30 anytime mins a day average between 7am and 8pm. At 300 mins (my old plan) I only had an avg of 10 mins a day. This plan also includes free long distance, which I had on the old plan as well.

b) if you find that the phone is briefly jumping to roam occasionally but you are rarely out of the PCS network, consider switching your phone to Sprint PCS only. My StarTac has this option, and I believe most (if not all) Sprint phones have the option for Analog only (why would you set this?!?), Automatic, or Sprint PCS only. I had that same problem occasionally until i switched the phone to PCS only. Now a briefly stronger analog signal does not automatically switch bands. if you leave a Sprint PCS area, you can always click a few buttons and switch to automatic if needed.

c) I haven't done this for quite a while, but I really need to. If you are in an area where they have a Sprint PCS store (I believe you can go to any, not just in your home area), stop in and have them upgrade your phone's software. Whenever Sprint adds new cities and new agreements, they update the software to recognize those locations. If you haven't been upgraded in awhile, you may not be getting a Sprint signal when you should be.

Did you guys just flat out ask for a better plan? Or did you pretend like you where going to cancel and they offered it? I get 500 anytime and 2500 n/wkends for $35 thinking about changing for the extra 100&500 plus if I could swing that Wireless Web for free! (anybody else get the wireless web too?)

Even though I have a dual band phone, I have it set to be digital only after my first big roaming bill. There's no coverage at all for about a half mile on the Marin side of the Golden Gate Bridge. I actually almost always get coverage in San Francisco. The only time it gets flakey is when I walk up the stairs in my apartment.

When I called up I said I wanted to cancel and they did offer a better deal, but it was only 100 minutes more or so. I just then flat asked for 650/3000 and the guy went away for a while and then agreed to it. I said I could get 3000 minutes at Verizon.
