<< I actually talked to the "business retention" and not the "consumer retention" department. >>

What number did you call to get to the "business retention" people? I'm also on a corporate plan (with a 15% discount), so I'd have to talk to the business people also. The Kyocera Palm phone is starting to look pretty attractive right now at $150, and if I can get a service credit of some sort I think I'm going for it (even though it is kinda bulky). Also, does anyone know if people on business plans like this have to pay an activation fee if they upgrade their phone?

To reach business retention, I just called the consumer retention # listed here. They transferred me directly to business accounts and then I asked to speak to business retention and was transferred to them.

Called first time last thursday and they gave me 150 minutes more (was on 250 anytime/2000 night for $39.99) and wireless web. Called retention number today and got switched to 650 anytime/3000 night, 3 months wireless web free, and $30 towards a new phone all for $35.99. I'm actually paying less for more. Thank you Anandtech.

Ziegfred, that is the kind of plan I'm looking for. Would appreciate details on how you negotiated your plan. What plan were you on? Did you have to complain about service, etc, or did you simply ask for a better plan. Thanks

<< So do you have to be a sprint costumer, but just not under contract? >>

Read the first post

Real quick though, your answers are yes, and for the most part, but YMMV if you're in a contract.

And for anyone wondering the business customer service #, it's (888) 788-4727. Use this if you have an agreement with your employer for a certain percentage off. I just talked to them and got a service credit in exchange for extending my contract with them. I also got to keep my 8PM night/weekend minutes, which they normally don't allow if you get the service credit (usually you have to switch to a different plan with 9PM night/weekend minutes). Good luck to everyone who's trying this

Pouncekim, i called up wil the intention of cancelling my account. At that time i as not aware of this thread. Claire transfer me to cancellation dept or watever it is called. Talk to the CS, complained about dropped calls and problems with billing. After hearing me complain(in a nice and professional way) she just offer me the 450/2000 N&W after 8pm for 29.99 cause my original plan was 200/800 which is an old plan. My contract has expired for like a year already. Well, I was thinking about it then told her no thanks, at that moment she offer me $30 toward a new phone. I said no thanks. Being so persistent to keep me interested, she offer me 500 minutes pcs to pcs. Then i asked her if she can offer me a new phone but she sorry she can't do it. But that's the most she can offer me. So I took the bait. Later on i read on AT thread that people are gettin 1st incoming minutes, i called again and ask for it. The CS just happily put it on my account. The wait was tedious but it was all worth it and the CS that i had was very nice.

Thanks Ziegfred. Really appreciate it.

I *thought* I was month to month, but when I called, they claimed I was under contract for two more months. BS! When I changed plans last year, the rep assured me I was not committing to a contract. How's this for a crappy plan - 200/180 for 29.99. Only reason I took it was because it was month to month. Moral of the story, get it in writing! Can't wait till my two month sentence is up.

Well I guess they are tired of everyone calling and getting different rates.

I was on the 400/2000 for 49.99 since 1999 and I just called. They wouldn't offer me anything worthwhile like you folks got. :disgust:

I told them to go ahead and cancel....I've been looking to goto Nextel anyways, this just pushed me to do it sooner rather than later.

called and said after 2 months of starting service with them, i was dissapointed that my service was inconsistent and my battery takes forever to charge. I asked what they could do to keep me as a customer.

Instantly, the rep offered for $36:
650 anytime min
3000 (might be 2000?)
$30 credit
1 month free

thanks much... i was paying $60 for 600min for the last 2 months.

I guess some are luckier then others... I spent an hour on the phone and two reps and supervisor later they told me that 1st incoming minute free was unavailable with a retention plan.

Thanks for the Info..I do have very bad reception at my house..I called and complained about my service and asked if they have a better plan to make me stay with them.
They offered me two plans. I decided to go with 650 anytime min 3000 N/W, long distance, free wireless web, 30 phone credit, no contract renew. Everything for 35.99 Hot Deal.

If you call and the rep doesn't offer anything, call again and get a different rep. The first time I called, the rep only would read off the standard plans. I called back and he eventually worked up 650/3000. He gave it to me without any problems. He wouldn't give me a credit for a new phone though. I tried again today to no avail. I'll try again later.

I called Sprint also. I was currently under contract and was paying $50 for 450/2550 (with nights starting at 8pm). I got the lady to offer me 650/3000, 500 PCS minutes, 1st incoming minute free, but when she tried to process it, she couldn't add the "1st incoming minute free". Has anyone with the 650/3000 for $35.99 gotten 1st incoming minute free? I know some $29.99 people 450/2000 have, but I wonder if it's possible with the $35.99 plan.

I have the same question as BruceLeeBoy. I changed my plan from 500 anytime for $50 (with 1st incomming minute free) to teh 650 anytime/3000 N&W, phone credit, etc, but the rep., Dorothy, said that she couldn't add the 1st incoming minute free feature. She tried for 10 minutes to add it but was unable to do so. Anyone on the 650/3000 for $36 plan have 1st incomming minute free?

I called them (three times) but finally got a rep who offered me the following:

450 anytime
2000 nights and weekends
nights still start at 8:00pm
free long distance
free wireless web
free 1st month
all for $30/month

But with my employer, I get 25% off of my total bill, so I'm really paying ~$22.50/month plus tax, etc. As it is now, I pay $26 anyway (w/ discount), so it's not much of a drop, but my minutes more than doubled AND I got that wireless web (for the heck of it).

I'm happy with them again, but that's not stopping me from trying for the 1st incoming minute free or some PCS to PCS minutes later on.

I had the same problem. Could not get the 1st incoming minute free with the 650/300 for $35.99. They can add free 500 minutes PCS to PCS though. I opted for that when he explained that there was no way to add the 1st incoming minute free.

Just called Sprint back, according to the rep, the 650/3000 for $35.99 plan is overloaded and cannot accept the "1st Incoming Minute Free" promo. She pulled up the plan and read it to me. The plan looks like this:

500/1000 (8pm N&W and free long distance)
+150 Anytime
+2000 N&W

I guess the 500/1000 is the basic plan and they just add to it.

She later mentioned that the 1st incoming minute is simply not available with this plan, but is with the $29.99 plan (450/2000). I kept my 650/3000 $36 plan and took the 500 PCStoPCS minutes, 1 month free and $30 credit also. I figure since most of my friends have Sprint, those 500 minutes will do a decent job of making up for the lack of 1st incoming minute free.

1st try I spent 15 minutes on hold and spent 15 minutes complaining to a rep first and then a manager. Both refused to give me a better plan.

Tried again today, no hold, and only spent 5 min with them. Didn't complain this time. Just said give me a better rate or I'll cancel. Got 600 anytime 3000 n/w @ 8pm for $30 plus I still get my 25% corporate discount. No wireless web but I'd prob never use it anyways. Didn't see that anyone else got this deal, maybe it is new?

Before I had 200/1000, but I hardly ever use that all up anyway.
Thanks hot deals!

1 thing to remember: You won't get anywhere by complaining. You have to tell them you want to cancel your service, then they'll start giving you good deals. Merely complaining about your service is useless.
