It is hot for non-anandtecher, but cold for a system builder like myself.

You might be kidding, but calling this cold is pretty harsh. Add up the cost of the components and it'd be hard to beat that price by too much on a home-built system.
A 1.7ghz P4 is about $210 at Newegg. Add in $80 for the HD, $75 for the MB, $100 for OEM Windows XP, and $100 for the rest (video, sound, memory, CD-rom, etc.) and you are at $565 at least, not including shipping, and you've still got to BUILD the damn thing.
So it might not be quite as low as you can build a system, but I wouldn't call it 'cold'... >>
Agreed, its not nessesarily cold. We all have parents and other non-tech relative that want on the net and this could be a good deal to refer them to. I don't like building systems for other people, because its an endless software support problem once they install AOL, ICQ, get a virus, or what-ever. Let Dell do the front line crap with the software problems.
