Note that this is NOT the core216 version.

The performance difference between 192 and 216 cores isn't that much. This deal is pretty hot.

Slightly slower in "most" respects, unless overclocked heavily.

But considerably slower in situatios where the HD 4870 1GB benefits of it's VRAM amount and sheer amount of shader power, the HD 4870 512MB is the card to compare against the GTX 260 192 which are pretty similar, the slight edge goes to the ATi card, but at this price is a steal, probably the GTX 260 192 is being sold at this price to compete with the cut prices for the HD 4870 512MB at $149.99, so both price cuts benefits us all, the consumers. I might buy one for PhysX since this is a much better buy than the AGEIA card, or buy the GTS 250. This videocard war is crazy and great, unlike the previous war.

I've had one of those for about six months. Great card, no issues. Respectably quiet, fast as I need it to be. Fallout3 maxed at 1920x1200 without *any* playability issues.

I spose if my mobo supported SLI, I'd be in for another.

I can attest that eVGA has been very good with rebates. The turnaround for my last few has been a couple weeks not the full 8 weeks.

Have been eVGA fan for years.
Rebate = none issue!
The 260 = just ok. Not a very good overclocker.

The 4870 1GB only has another 100MB of video memory. I don't think there is a single real-world situation where 900MB won't be enough and 1GB will.

If I wasnt planning on getting a 2nd TB drive and 2x 22Inch monitors over the next two months this is tempting. Allow me to dump my flaky 4850.

What? LOL, ATi had always better memory management than nVidia's, and if you are talking about the GTX 260, it comes with 896MB of VRAM, and the HD 4870 1GB comes with 1GB=1024MB RAM, which is 128MB more, but at the time that such VRAM usage is hit, probably both are too slow to claim it as an advantage.
