Good for a gift! or if you want a cool home theater setup with your wega tv. Sound wise, I just came back from Circuit City and decide to cancer my order. My kenwood does much better job than that and I only spend $170 on it from a hot deal. Also consider I have to go through $200 MIR and use a coupon which should not be used...

Again, if the cool factor or you are looking for a good gift, this is definitely very good deal.

According to the (few reviews) ... This system is fine.

Please post more Reviews....... ( I couldn't find more )

It's cool. Sorry. I don't have this item - I just hate when folks jump to conclusions, because it confuses others.

EDIT: I actually misread something altogether. My bad on that post.

Sony is great when it comes to video products (DVD players, WEGA televisions, RPTVs), but as far as Audio is concerned, they're way behind some of their competitors.

Aside from that, I think they look awesome and I think for the price, you get a decent system with killer looks.

I own these.. I paid $730 for these so this is an ultra hot deal.

My thoughts:
1) NO BASS... you must buy a new sub. I bought a JBL 12" PB12 (250 watt powered). It's a little boomy but with the right adjustments, it sounds great.
2) Very little mids. I like a wide range of sounds so this bothers me.
3) Does not get loud enough. I can put the Sony system on MAX and still want more. My Logitech Z680's can drown out the Sonys with no effort at all.
4) They do LOOK great and match my Wega perfectly. Remote looks real nice too.
5) The slot loader is a bit slow. You have to wait a bit for it to switch discs...

Why I won't think twice about this:

1) I have yet to hear decent Sony speakers
2) When it comes to home audio, Sony's electronics and amp sections are very consumer grade and notoriously weak (except for ES series)
3) no powered sub
4) ugly IMO

Now, an argument could be made that the DVD changer has value, especially with SACD and Progressive scan. I wouldn't disagree. But to me, you'd be paying $389 for a DVD player, because I would have no use for the other equipment.

First, I know nothing about this, but I have a question because I hate the system I have now...I woulld really like to know how it plays quiet stuff like dialouge and that kind of stuff. When I watch a DVD, I have to turn the sould way up when there is talking, but when something big happens, like an explosion or whatever, my eardrums almost burst. I assume its the speakers, but I would like to know if these speakers do that, or if its some other problem.

I know this is kinda a tangent, but oh well.

I had the same thing happen to me and it turned out that the surround sound settings on my tuner were set incorrectly.

Is there a guide or something to fix this? I have the same problems with my Kenwook HTB 503

I think this is a decent deal. I haven't heard this system as well but from the user reviews I've read it doesn't sound like a good system. Also sony consumer audio speakers don't have the best track record. If it was me I would spend the $390 on a used audio system.

dream system it is, alright...wont stop you from dreaming about owning a better system..not to thread crap but I am pissed about Sony's efforts to wow the public with the looks dept and letting performance take a backseat...IMO, Sony is going the way of Bose...seems like they attend training school at Bose.

Here's what I got in the mail today...

"We're sorry, but the item(s) shown below have been cancelled as the manufacturer could not supply us with the merchandise. We apologize for the inconvenience"

Well damn, I was actually looking forward to getting these...

Guys - there's been (I think) at least a thread with 32 pages on FW about the complain on this deal...

Dun bother trying. They're just going to cancel it.

this happened to me all of a sudden for like 3 months...then one day I finally got fedup with it and tinkered for four hours trying to fix it, only to find out my cat had goten behind the entertainment center and apparently got snagged on cables, unplugging my center speaker. oddly, the indicator on the reciever didn't reflect that.
