If you have one of the brother hl-1440 this is for you. $8 shipped 32meg stick of edo simm I just installed in in my printer and it works great checked the info printout and it said 34 megs total. The ram was even packed better than the stick of 512 i orderd from googlegear.com. The reseller ratings were mixed for this place but they were super fast and i had no problems.

man i wished u had posted this a day earlier... mainly, not just because of the price, but to confirm that you got it, and it worked in the 1440, etc...

For the 1440, I know you need 10MB to print at 1200dpi (I have an 8MB SIMM installed now) so what benefits does adding more RAM have? I just use the printer at home, not a network and I only print maybe twice a week. Will I see a big difference?

The module is in my printer and working great i did the printout to see if the simm was taken by the printer the instructions in the brother user manual and it said 34mb total memory. They sent me the same email because i orderd only one stick, I told them it was for my printer and they didn't say that it won't work in printers.

Their tech is wrong (sorta)....EDO would work singly on 486 boards, although I'm sure they're assuming you don't have one (why you would have a board that uses EDO in pairs (pentium class), I dunno either. In any event, just let em know it's for your printer. I forget the exact specs needed, but if others say it works, it'll work

Unless they accidently sent me a 2k refresh chip instead of the 4k it should work if somebody else that has 8 bucks to spend trys it and it works then we can confirm that it will work in the brother printers. The chip I received didn't have any writing on it that would distinguish it from another chip. Last night I tried printing out a large picture of my camaro that before the memory I would get an out of memory error and it would flush all data from the memory but after I put the stick in that I got from them I printed the picture out with no problem.

Has anyone else purchased this and been able to confirm that this works with the HL-1440? I can't find any specs anywhere in Brother's materials that show what type of RAM to use at all.

Any old 72 pins SIMMs should work. I had a old 64meg one laying in the drawer.. slapped it into the HL-1440 last year and it recognized it as a 32meg and works fine.

I stuck a 4k refresh memory into my printer. It started to choke after a while on larger jobs.
