<< Just to clarify on the issue of original vs. copies of UPC's
Anyone who is a veteran Staples rebater KNOWS that the Staples rebate center takes COPIES of UPCs as well as RECEIPTS, even if the rebate form SAYS you must submit the original UPC...
This is a FACT, and There are MANY Staples rebate "veterans" on these forums ...I know at Fatwallet you can verify this in posts over there regarding Staples rebates...
SO yes, it is TECHNICALLY possible to buy the item, xerox the UPC and receipt, send away for the rebate, then return the item. However, this is fraud and I do NOT advocate doing this... >>
Not only is it fraud, but you can get nailed for a federal offense here since you're using the US Mail to perpetrate the fraud. Question is, would you realistically be prosecuted? Do you want to take the chance? Do you relly want to be dishonest and compromise your self-integrity for a few measly bucks?
At any rate, I've bought Peachtree (2 different versions) and Simply Accounting and other software and made okay returns on them. For Peachtree, I bought an ancient copy of Quicken off of E-bay and sent the proof of purchase in and made an additional amount as an upgrade rebate.
This deal is real--just don't try to cheat.
