http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com/ is giving out a free Zenith Cruisepad with every order over $100. This seems pretty hot to me and I think these things are going to be gone fast --- which is of course the point.

Alot of places say that these were the first "Tablet PC" ...... I think they did need to be near a real computer though... it was just like a wireless terminal.

Maybe someone could use one.

The 1 on ebay was "as is" not even tested for power & is missing the stylus by someone with a feedback rating of 7 pos, 2 neutral, & 1 neg.

That may have been a crappy used pad sold by a crappy used seller, but the
second poster is still correct: These are junky very old technology and are not
worth your time or effort...ComputerSurplus rarely has anything approaching a real
good deal, and this is no exception.

I never said otherwise. I just laid the facts out. I guess the Xbox is only worth $50 now. $50 Xbox

If I remember right, this uses some obscure networking setup that requires you put a card in another pc thats on to connect the cruisepad to the network. Also weak processor and memory. Guess its ok for a toy but not something i'd go scrounging up $100 worth of stuff to get.

Edit: on further review, not only does this use a proprietary networking setup that requires you buy a card for the host ($29), it also does no local processing, its a remote controller (think VNC) for that host pc.

Would this work for a PC that's integrated into a home theater setup that serves mp3s as a remote control for the mp3 player?

We evaluated these at my work abut 7 years ago. They were not great then. As the previous post said, think VNC or PCAnywhere (really it was Citrix). The CruisePad itself is a "dumb tube". I can't remember if it has an integrated radio, but they were using the Proxim wireless pre-802.11. Nothing you buy today will work with it. You'd have to find an old access point and maybe even old Citrix software.
