Thanks! Seagates have always been my favorite anyway. Hopefully this doesn't raise their prices though :-(

thx seagate. Thx google. Who says competition is bad?
Seagates were always good for reliability and quiet operation, and now that reliability is guaranteed for 5 yearsOriginally posted by: Sesopedalian
Even though there are limited places to buy them, my next drives will be Seagates. No factor builds my confidence in a product more than the manufacturer having some themselves.

my question is, will seagate use technicalities in their warranty policy to void possible warranty issues?
i heard that for the hitachi warranty, if you keep your computer on 24/7 or like consecutive, it does not qualify for warranty because of the policy..
HMMMMMMMMMMM..........

is there any place we can send a letter or e-mail/comment feedback to seagate thanking them for this move? That way seagate will get a positive response from the community and they will continue to offer their warranty. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

This applies to OEM drives as well as retail, correct? Also, do you think it is safe to expect a 5yr warranty if I bought a OEM drive from Newegg now that says it has a 1yr warranty?
