Yup, that's right. It died just after I finished installing XP... apparently there is an issue with the new FN45 rev 2.0 motherboards. Lots of RMAs with this puppy it looks like.

Gonna try to take it back to the store tomorrow for an... another FN45 rev 2.0?! :disgust:

------------
I've wanted a SFF forever, and it seems I finally have the chance. A very nice friend of mine is getting me the Shuttle of my choice for X'mas! I know it's after the 25th, but she wanted to let me choose, so I've narrowed it down to the choices below. I'll be keeping 2x512 PC3200 Winbond CH5 and Radeon 9700 Pro; I also have existing AMD XP2500+ and a 80G Hitachi SATA drive. Bolded items are what I pay:

1. SN85G4 US$420 :Q:Q:Q + AMD 64 3000+ US$250 = $670
+ AMD64, 6in1 reader, cool case
- possible issues with drive stealthing <---- is this true?

2. SB65G2 US$360 + Intel 2.6C US$270 = $630
+ HT, black case, WiFi
- possible issues with Winbond CH5 <---- true?

3. SN45G US$230 + 160Gig IDE US$100 = $330
+ keep existing 2500+, NF2 5.1sound for DVD playback
- flaky front headphone jack

Looks to me the SN45G is the clear winner as I only have to get a new IDE hard drive... but if you didn't have to pay for the Shuttle itself, which would you pick?

I posted in your thread at Sudhian...
Go with the 45G, last thing you need is an obsolete socket.

I'd say buy the Biostar Ideq for cheaper. You don't have to worry about stealth and since it has SATA ports no need to get a PATA drive.

Thanks JamesBond007 (i'm assuming thats what your name means ) .. i knew there were some Sudhian readers in here!

I have decided to go with the SN45G indeed. It was too much money (additional US300) for a new toy and new features that I didnt need.

You'll like it. I had to RMA mine right after I got it, but that was 50% my fault so I really can't complain.

Put me down for a RMA as well. Check my thread over at Sudhian...

So sad, so sad...

Out of curiosity - why do you say it was 50% your fault? Was your SN45G mobo (fn45) a rev 2.0?

Yes, it was a 2.0 mobo. To make a long story short, I turned off the computer while it was saving settings to the BIOS.

Wow.
I myself said "screw it", asked for a refund instead of a replacement from Newegg, and just got an SX635II in Black, with an NFS-7 2.0 mobo and an SLK-947.

There have been several other reports of spontaenous SN45G deaths lately... so buyers beware.
