That's a bit pricey. Does it ever go on sale?
No clue if it goes on sale or not.

You can find much cheaper SNES controllers on Amazon, dual packs, for cheaper than that. But the other ones don't have as good reviews and that one feels 100% identical to a real SNES controller, down to the way the buttons click, other than it having all convex buttons, unlike the american SNES controller did. $16 is dirt cheap to me so I didn't bother with the cheaper controllers.

I've been seeing Sega Genesis consoles bundled with 50+ games loaded in the console like the Classics here. Are they the same thing or are they some kind of knockoffs? They are selling them at Dollar General where I live for $30. They only seem to crop up around holidays as there were some last year too along with Atari consoles in the same vein, but a lot more games on them.

Those AtGames retro consoles are crap. The sound is terrible. There is a flea market I go to sometimes and there is one vendor who often sets up the Atari Flashback AtGames makes as well as the Genesis one, and they are not at all impressive in person. The controllers didn't feel good either. They feel like cheap knockoffs. On the SNES Classic the D-pad and the buttons all feel really high quality by contrast, and the sound is great.

Well i finally got my SNES Classic yesterday for Christmas. Now i have the whole day off to play!

LOL I got about 40% through Super Mario World last night after getting my SNES Classic set up. I can't believe I still remember all the hidden exits 26 years later.

You could buy these to adapt your controllers to USB. I bought two of the DIY kits a bunch of years ago because I was too lazy to design or hack together something myself.

Does anyone else's SNES Classic controller feel a tad mushy? Maybe it's just the feel of a new controller, but the buttons don't really feel as springy and tight as my old controller.

It does feel off, but I just assumed that was the effect of decades passing and my hands getting bigger and stronger. I played some FF3 last night, still my favorite game of all time. I wish they put FF4, FF5, and ChronoTrigger on there though.

I put a dual boot of the NES Classic on my SNES Classic and I gotta say the NES games are glorious with the scan lines turned on. I'm not sure if I'll do that for the SNES games but for the NES games it looks amazing.

After some experimentation i found that i like the 'CRT Filter' the best on my SNES Classic. Makes the jaggies much less noticeable.

Have i just gotten old or are some of these games much harder than i remember? Lol. Getting my butt kicked in some of the games.

The TV's image processor adds latency ("lag"). Modern games compensate (easier, more forgiving).

Enable game mode if your TV has it.

Disable "DNR" or noise reduction.
Disable any fancy audio leveling.
Disable any fancy smooth-motion frame interpolation stuff.

There's usually some way to disable simulated overscan, but it's usually unintuitive. What model is your TV?

It doesn't feel 100% identical. I have both an original pad, the SNES classic pad and the Buffalo. All buttons except the d-pad feel very close to the original. However, the d-pad feels quite different. The main difference is that the travel is quite a bit longer. It it quite obvious when you're rocking your thumb back and forth on the d-pad. It's not a huge difference, but it's worth mentioning. That, and the fact that many of these controllers have phantom d-pad presses, probably due to bad electrical design. I've tested four and three of them had this issue to varying degrees.

For me it’s quite obviously the other way around. I have a well worn original pad and the d-pad is completely mushy and non-distinct. I've got a bunch of SNES/SNES style controllers here (original, SNES classic, Buffalo, Cirka and Retro-Link) and the classic pad is by far the springiest feeling of all of them.

I finally got to level 5 in Super Ghouls N' Ghost! At this rate I might beat the game by 2020!

Oh man my brother got me one of these for Christmas. I already have a Raspberry Pi hooked up with SNES games but it's so much better playing with the SNES Classic controllers. They feel just like the real thing, I'm impressed. Time to go dump all the missing SNES roms on this now as I'd much rather play them on here than on my Pi.
Grats to you both for jumping on the bandwagon!! I play mine a ton, so I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too!

It's been a long time since I've held a real SNES controller but I can't tell any difference. It has all of the clickity click in the L/R button presses as well as the dpad feeling the same as I remember. I also can fly around in Super Mario Kart feeling just like home on SNES, which I couldn't do on PSX controllers because it just doesn't feel right. I also know there have been revisions to that controller so I'm not sure if things have changed much or not.

But my initial point was that you can get the SNES "feel" very easily instead of having to suffer using a PSX or Xbox controller.

Panel de Pon is the best part about this. It was left out of the English versions due to Nintendo no longer having the rights to the name Tetris (it was called Tetris Attack here). Very unfortunate because it’s easily one of the best and most overlooked SNES games (my favorite by far) and it really could have used the exposure. If you haven’t played it, please do!

Got my neice one for Christmas and she loves it, won’t let anyone else play lol. Has her little chair out and everything. She is only 4 and this is her first experience with video games. Loaded it with a few games that it didn’t come with too.

Finally got my 96 levels on Super Mario World. I can't believe I haven't played this game through since the early 90s. I forgot all the koopa troopas turned to the hideous Mario headed things after you beat the secret star world.

Wow this is random. I went to the special section of star road and just left it sitting while I checked my email and all of a sudden the level 1-1 theme started playing over the regular music. I don't think I ever found that back when I played this on the real SNES.

I remember discovering the music thing by accident back in the early '90s. It's a pretty cool version of the theme.

I'm not in love with either design, so nostalgia pushes the US version to the top for me. I wish they had kept the color coded buttons, though.
