Man, Star Fox 2 feels "broken" compared to the remaster rom that's been floating around for years... The lock on barely locks on to anything! It's what helped to compensate trying to hit things in a 360 degree environment in 20fps. Miyu looks like she got a huge nerf, which is too bad. She was my favorite character to play as.

Finally got one at toysrus. They had less than 10 left around 10am this morning. Called Walmart last night asking when they would be available, was told midnight, was told there was already a line. This was at 8pm. Went out early this morning. Waited in line at Gamestop and the person in front of me got the last one. Went over to Target, clerk said they had none left even though I could see 2-4 behind them under the counter. Asked about the ones behind the counter, they played dumb and said there wasn't any there, the box was in plain sight...
They were holding them for themselves. You should have gotten a manager as they can and have been fired for that behavior.

I looked on Newegg, didn't see any listing for it, even when I searched for "SNES Classic". They did have a listing, I think that it might have been 3rd-party, for the "NES Classic Console", under "Retro Consoles", for $200+.

Star Fox and now Star Fox 2 are games that unfortunately don't age well when played in their original glory. Bad controls with horrible frames per second. I'll throw them both on for a few minutes, especially part 2 to try it out but never play them again.

I showed up at a local Gamestop roundabouts 6:30 AM. I was the third person in line; sign posted on the door said they had 13. So I was set to wait until they opened. Got it!

That's all they got? Wow I have eight Gamestops within 20 miles of me that are listed as having them in stock. I figured these would be really hot items considering the quality of games they have.

That's all the store I went to had, yeah. Believe it or not, that's over twice as many as stores had for the NES Classic launch. I never tried picking up an NES Classic, but I heard each store only got 4 consoles on release day.

Oh I know and it was the manager. Was a losing fight.

I first fired up Street Fighter 2 Turbo and it was fun as hell. Reminded me of playing it when I was young. Music and slow down seemed spot on too.

Its crazy that they don't use the extra power to have Star Fox run at a reasonable frame rate. Star Fox is actually still fairly fun but damn I've forgotten how bad everything ran with horrible slow downs everywhere. It would have been nice for them to use the power to have it run decently but then of course it wouldn't feel right.

That's the way Ocarina of Time feels to me now when I try to play it.

The problem with this is that sometimes with emulation you find events are no longer synced to the beats of the soundtrack because the game is running faster than the hardware it was intended to run on. It can be a bit jarring.

This doesn't surprise me much at all. They turned away millions of dollars in sales by making the NES Classic difficult to get. This was a hot item and there is ZERO chance that they did NOT know it. They just chose to not bother to try to fill the demand and instead of completing a triangle of revenue with Switch, 3ds line, and then retro consoles....they tossed a lot of money right out the window. I expect the same on this one.

They KNOW the demand is high and they also know that they can meet that demand......but they'll choose not to. They'll make it difficult to impossible to get one and blame it on "not realizing how big the demand was". I really really hope I'm wrong on that but I don't have high hopes after the fiasco with the NES Mini. I was expecting them to pull a similar move again.

Anyway, for those that got in on the preorder, congrats. For the rest, hopefully they will do it again or you'll be able to find one soon after launch. I'm not holding my breath on this one. If there happen to be lots of extra, I might pick one up. Otherwise, I'm not gonna put much effort into something that they don't seem to want many people to have. If I'm wrong, feel free to let me know. I'll fess up to it if I'm wrong about it. Just my .02....

Well, it would appear that I was indeed wrong about how they handled the SNES Classic. I said I would fess up to it if I was wrong, so I'm doing it. lol I still don't know if I'll get one or not but it seems that it was a lot easier for folks to get one this time, and that's DEFINITELY a good thing. So, congrats Nintendo, you've somewhat redeemed yourself.....until the next silly boneheaded move. lol

I went to buy one at Walmart and showed up 3 hours early. Nope...all the "tickets" were handed out already. At least the scalpers are only doubling their money instead of getting $300 like they were for the NES classic.

In regards to the slowdown in Star Fox, it's accurate to how it was on the original SNES. I doubled checked last night from videos and it's fairly accurate.

I haven't found any issues with the emulator versions of any games listed with the Classic. Personally, I'd rather spend $7 and build (insanely easy) a Retro Pi and get 300 games than pay Nintendo any amount of money for something that will only play a handful of games.

Not to mention you can get emulators for PCs, laptops, phones, tablets, TVs, and even portable handheld systems. In this day and age, it's unreal to think people will spend that much money to play a handful of games you could easily have access to for free.

DUEEEERRRRP!

Anyway, the first thing I checked, this emulator failed. In Donkey Kong Country, cling to a swinging vine and pause/unpause the game repeatedly. You'll see that the vine swings while the game is paused and the position updates when you unpause.

Very old SNES emulators on PC used to have this issue.

How are you doing that for $7? I was looking up parts to make a Retropie build today and you could get the cheapest case for $7. But the Pi 3 itself is $35, then $10 for a power supply, plus whatever you want to spend on the SD card + controller.

This. The cheapest I've seen a Raspberry 3 go for is $28 on sale. I don't even think the Raspberry 0 is $7.

It's not. A Pi 3 is not that cheap. I've built one with an emulator myself and I still bought an SNES Classic.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I already had the Raspberry 3 a coworker gave me for free. I never even looked up their cost until you mentioned it so I guess it will cost quite a bit more than $7 to build a Retro Pi. Still, if you have a phone/tablet/PC/handheld (PSP, Vita, etc.)/laptop, etc., you can still emulate it for free. If you only have a phone and want to be able to hook it up to your TV, then you'll need a USB hub (about $10) and a USB OTG cable ($2) in order to hook your phone to your TV while playing with a controller.
