I'd fucking run my ass off if I couldn't even hear the rifle report. That means someone sees you, but you could only wish to see them.

Heh, If I was from England (which bans all guns) and had the option to be out shooting that beast (and was DAMN good at it) I wouldn't want to stay home either.
It's more about being out there with your brothers in arms than it is getting to blow stuff up and shoot shit. There's a bit of survivor's guilt tossed in, too, etc.

Nope, I wasn't. That doesn't preclude me from understanding what's explained to me by those who were there. Just because you don't seem to have any attachment to the men around you (or are just hiding it and trying to act macho like so many others I've seen) doesn't mean others do not have an attachment either. The vast majority of those I've worked with and gotten to know say they go for the man next to them.

Unless something has changed, I never heard of any ROE against .50 CAL ammunition being used. I was over there during the surge and we always had one .50 on one of my HMMWV's and we used it plenty of times.
