I think the .50 cal ROE applies to .50 cal ammo that is engineered for anti-vehicle use, such as armor piercing/incendiary. I think that that's maybe where the confusing is, standard .50 ammo is perfectly "legal" to use against infantry.

You have absolutely no idea what the Taliban is, do you? They're not "freedom fighters" protecting their homeland. They don't care about the Afghani people at all. They're a giant drug cartel fueled by religious fundamentalism. They have a set of ideals they want to force on the populace (which is mostly allied with us) and they don't care about personal freedoms. They're a bunch of terrorist assholes.

i know what the taliban is. the taliban is a terrorist group.

insurgents are different. i went back and checked the article and the article said that the two men were taliban, but then said they were insurgents. based on how i originally read the article, they're not the same thing. i overlooked the part where the author called the dead guys "taliban soldiers" and saw "insurgents".

the taliban are insurgents, but not all insurgents are taliban. my mistake for not seeing the word "taliban" in the article...
