That's pretty dang cheap for 5 licenses of an OS. I don't even own a single Mac and I'm considering it. I wonder how difficult it is to build a Hacintosh.

Cool I didn't realize this. I am running Tiger 10.4.x on my wife's iMac and have been debating whether to try and upgrade or not.

On that note just thought I would let people know:

My friend and I both got Snow Leopard on release day together- he got the normal one and I got the family pack. The disks are EXACTLY the same- down to the same serial number. The whole 5 licenses thing is on the honor system, not like Windows or some software that activates online.

I didn't mind because Apple will never get their ridiculous computer sales margins from me again (well at least on a desktop) because I an avid Hackintosher. Just thought I would let people know though.

That's not 5 licenses for an OS.
It's 5 licenses for a Service Pack you mean.

Legally, you still need to buy the original Leopard OS to use this upgrade.

you realize the family pack and single pack are identical.. macs don't have licenses you could put it on 100 machines.

Then why would they sell a family pack? That would not make sense. I have a Mac mini but I don't know much about Apple OS software yet.

The family pack includes the agreement that you can install and use the software on 5 apple brand computers. Otherwise you agree to install the software on only one computer. It's very simple.
