Snow Leopard imminent...who's upgrading?

Does anyone think it could be as early as Monday?

I'm probably going to have to wait it out. I have Leopard configured just the way I like it, and don't really think I am going to bother with the effort of redoing everything until I get a new machine.

I think I am much more likely to try and put it on my desktop than on my laptop. The fact that my desktop has an actual decent graphics card which can take advantage of the new GPU stuff is the reason why.

I might end up putting it on my laptop if I hear that it continues the previous trends of speeding up existing hardware, which it should if all the talk of these under the hood improvements are to be believed.

It won't be as early as Monday, they just barely finalized the API's two weeks ago. I'd imagine it will be around 4-5 months from now. I'd be shocked if they released it this month or next month.

As long as it runs on my Hackintosh, I'll be upgrading

would you guys suggest signing up for the student developers program? I was thinking about spending that 100 bucks so i can get a discounted MBP but I was told that it might not guarantee a copy of snow leopard though when its actually release even thought you're within the 1yr membership.

i did two years ago and i got leopard free! and the generous 1 time discount (mbp turned out to be $1599 for the $1999 model!). the $100 basically guarantees you the next release of osx (snow leopard in this case) and a hardware discount...as well as developer tools each month. whats not to like?

I'll be upgrading! But I don't think we'll see Snow Leopard until August, at the earliest.

I'm most likely getting Snow Leopard through ADC when it's out, but not right now.

It'll be going on my MacBook as well. My friends think I'm crazy but there's just something really enjoyable about standing in line on release day and having the newest and greatest!

Speaking of, I found a buyer for my 3G today. I'm all set some new phone hardware as well!

If I had to put money on it, I'm guessing early October. Apple has an artificial deadline of October 22nd since I'm willing to bet they'll want it out before Windows 7 is released.

I'll be quite shocked if it isn't out by September. They do have an artificial release date to meet now that Win7 has been officially dated, but I don't think they care that much.

Snow Leopard comes out in September, I am buying a Macbook before then, Snow Leopard is a $10 upgrade so that is good.

It's a $10 upgrade if you buy Leopard 90 days before Snow Leopard is released.

The fact that they're charging you 33% the cost of the OS in S&H charges is an awkward move. I would think the fact that you just threw down $1000+ on a computer would be enough for Apple to justify just covering the couple of bucks it costs them to send you the new OS.
