That shitty shitty time of the year for us in the north.... have to say goodbye to the rims and sticky tires for stock and boring.
This time of year can be equally as fun.
I always put them on / take them off myself... only takes 30 mins at most (with a bigger jack). If your allignment is good and the wheels / tires have been balanced, you should be fine.wondering if I could just throw them on myself (though using the cappy jack that comes with the car would suck).
Oh, I just love that time of year. Don't you love the 1 hour 8 mile commute?
What blows my mind is the fact that most of the people on the roads have been dealing with snow their whole driving lives and somehow still manage to turn into worthless turds at the first sign of snow on the roads.... its amazing how people "forget" how to drive in the stuff after 6-8 months.
Stupid question but is changing a set of tires basically like changing 4 spares?
I just picked up a second set of wheels with tires on them... wondering if I could just throw them on myself (though using the cappy jack that comes with the car would suck).
Get a jack, jack-stands, a breaker bar, and torque wrench and you'll be off to the races.
If you're doing winter wheels/tires, I would also suggest anti-seize.
Err, just buy a beater 4wd truck or mid 90's explorer/blazer. Leave the car in the garage until spring.
I also used to put antisieze on the hub where it meets the wheel. It helps avoid needing to kick the wheel off despite having all the lugs removed.
It's the best time of year to drive in the north. Snow tires and Subaru AWD is lots of fun.
The Fiat came with those anti-theft screws. Well, the "key" fits around the screw head. The new wheels won't let the "key" work - the holes are too small.

I have a jack and stands... do I need a torque wrench or can I just tighten em 'tight'?
Had a bit of snow today here.. Just insane.. Only Oct 24
I haven't even purchased snow tires yet for my newer car.. My old ones won't fit. Sucks.
I normally wouldnt put them on this early anyway.. I'm an early December kinda guy usually for snow tire installs.
