I decided to take the later shift today so I can go in after daybreak. It's my "half day" anyway. I had to pickup & deliver a cargo van too. Not gonna happen. Those things are a death trap in weather like this. The cops are telling people not to go out if they don't have to. Its not so much the amount of snow but the fact that it's blowing around.

They actually closed Toronto schools, which never happens. My old alma matre is closed to, which is rare. They haven't even sanded the roads yet, let alone plowed them. My Civic is ok in the snow but they don't pay me enough to come in and drive around in this weather.

I just looked out the window and it doesn't really look all that bad. And it has stopped snowing where I am.

Seriously anticlimactic in Detroit, we can't have gotten more than 5 inches so far. They say we're going to get a total of 7-10" now.

Yeah, I'm still not going into work.

i got you beat on the anticlimactic. Her in upstart NY they orig predicted 2 feet, then it was 12-16 inches. Last night at midnight it said 6-10 with some ice possible

this morning there is about 1 inch, possibly 2 out there. no ice. they say we may get an inch or 2 more today

hell it was worse yesterday

Office closed again today. Yes!

Ours is too.
People are bitching online (I can see them on FB) about how now the office expects them to either A) use PTO or B) just have an unpaid day. The office even is allowing for extended hours for the rest of the week to help make up for some of the lost time if you want. What do these people expect? The office to give them 8hrs PAID time due to the snow? I don't get it.

In the Aurora/Montgomery area. Snow is brutal. Had to have coworkers pick me up for work (see user icon). Headed into work (about a 5-10 minute drive) and saw about 15 cars stuck. Insane. Stay indoors unless its an emergency.

They actually let all the snow plow drivers etc take the plows home last night to their houses. How awesome would that be?

Our office policy is that if you don't want to come in due to the weather, you can take a PTO day or make the time up. I think that is a very fair policy.

In this case, however, our office has officially been closed so therefore, they're giving us paid time off for today and yesterday.

Yeah, I agree. I would have no problem taking PTO time off for today and yesterday. Heck, I fully intended to go in today if the office wasn't closed. But on the other hand, I had 6 meetings scheduled today so I am not that sad that work was closed.

I think we actually got lucky it was so cold and so windy. It actually worked against the drifting, too dry to stick well and wind was blowing so hard it pushed it on before it could.

If we were in that high 20's range for temp and the wind was more like 20 it likely could have been much worse. The snow would be that heavy, sticky stuff and the wind still would have been able to move it.

As it stands now, my front yard isn't too bad. But my back yard is about 4' deep because of how the wind carried it.

I guess everyone south of us took all the snow

I am not complaining. Schools were canceled which is very rare. I think the last time was 1992. Now that was a wallop.

the snow isn't even reaching the rim of the car...225/55/16 if you must have a reference.

We got about another 3" overnight and it's switched over to freezing rain already in Boston. The storm didn't strengthen once it hit the coast like they thought it was going to.

your gonna scare the snow away

As a matter of fact, I did. F you Mother Nature! HA! I knew you were afraid of me. Less than 1/4" of precipitation last night. Almost nothing. I warmed up the van for my wife - no snow to brush off it, just a little bit of slushy coating, no more than 1/16" thick that wiped off with my bare hand. Watched her pull out of the barn's driveway effortlessly & drive off.

good job Doc you scared it all away, i dont think it snowed at all last night
Victory!
Of course, it's supposed to continue snowing through noon according to the forecasts. "Continue"??! When's it going to start? It was almost sunny outside when I warmed up the cars for my wife and son.

I'm going to assess the damage in a moment...but it only looks like we got a few more inches after last nights initial 5-6 inches. Thank to the nice wind tunnel effect I've got to exit from the front door. Side door is snow drifted closed.

OMG! SNOW!

What is going on in the world!? IT snows? What can we do about it? It's just so, CRAZY.

Heh, funny guy. When I look outside and I see blizzard conditions that I haven't seen in a really long time, I obviously feel fine calling it "crazy".

Also, any storm that gives me a snow day is fine by me
