Unless one does not have a yard that is larger than the area to be cleared; what is the problem on where to store it? A little more work might be needed to more over previous shoveled snow.()

Go vertical and horizontal; think 3 dimensions

We've been stacking snow on this one mountain in our neighborhood where its now over 9' tall. It's actually quite magnificent. There's a limit on how much we can put up without the base blocking the entire street and the sidewalk. Of course there's the danger of some poor bastard walking on one side and some truck plow bushing by and knocking that thing over...

Cut steps into it and let the kids build a ramp. Contest to see who can go the farthest

Seriously - CT will close schools at barely a dusting. I did my senior year up here and we had so many snow days that our graduation date was pushed back by THREE WEEKS! That blew a third of my summer, lol.

It wasn't always like that, we used to be the land of late starts. Seems the last 12 years (since I've paid attention again after having kids) they changed over to complete cancellations

9'? Nice! Beats the 6 footer I got going at the base of my carport. Wonder if I can get ours taller than 9 after the next set of 3 storms this week.

I just heard from my wife who got out of an emergency meeting at her hospital. They told employees coming to work tomorrow to basically pack a bag for the next couple days. They likely will check into work tomorrow and not be allowed to leave the hospital until things are entirely cleared up on Thursday or Friday.

F'n great.

I know they have to be staffed, but that sucks.

My friend is the same way as a corrections officer.

This gets better all the time:

And the Indianapolis area was told by the weather service to expect "devastating conditions" due to a predicted inch of ice and 15-25 mph winds Tuesday night. "Long duration power outages appear possible" as trees and power lines will likely be taken down, it added

Who cares, its snow -- get used to it. Good God.

Yeh, but this is a lot of ice, and then a couple feet of snow, and then 40-60 MPH winds bringing in subzero temps. Oh and it's going to whomp over 110 million people. The ice & wind alone could leave tens of millions without power when then lines snap which is good times with the temps dropping as low as they are.

I'd take all snow any day, less chance of losing electricity.

No kidding. An inch or two of ice is horrible. Quadruply so with high winds. Turns power lines into fragile little twigs. And then even worse because it's too nasty for linesmen to get out and repair them.

WTF are you all bitching about? You CHOOSE to live in snow country...

I H-A-T-E snow...I lived in it for 35 years. Fuck that.

Yup. Local utilities have been trying like crazy to get branches cleared this year, even got a letter stating they wanted to do my tree as well (finally). But with having so much snow they've been hampered severely and I wouldn't be surprised if I lose power during this storm.

Hey, I don't live in snow country, but it's sure as hell gonna screw with my week. The northerners will probably mostly get snow, but its down here where it will be mostly ice, which is much, much harder to deal with.

I'd rather get 4" of snow a week than 2-3 ice storms a season

Idiot weather forecasters here are predicting "1 to 15 inches of snow by Tuesday afternoon"

Really? That's the best you can do? LOL!

Why anyone listens to them I will never know. National Weather Service FTW!

Seems every few hours they keep updating the storm info here... and bumping up predicted totals. Now in a range of 8-12" for storm # 1 on Tuesday. Could be worse, they could be saying 1-12 like other forecasters

Flakes just started flying here in downtown MKE.
Checked outside here in Iowa

Cars and parking lot are now covered with a layer.
Where vehicles have traveled is still black.
