Picked up some steaks for dinner tonight. Every person I knew stopped to talk about the weather. Every forecast I heard was different from the last. 1" of ice. At least 1" of ice, up to 2 1/2" of ice. (And that, on top of 2 feet of snow.)

It's like they all take bits and pieces from isolated areas & think that all those isolated worst cases are going to combine together at where they live. Noaa lists a few inches for our area on Tues & on Wednesday. We'll be lucky to see half a foot.
Hmmmm... uh oh... the forecast has tripled since a little after 3 this afternoon. Somewhere between 6" and 10" total on Tuesday. Lame.

Get out of the fast lane in bad conditions and let the Subaru's go through

Well that's the thing, I wasn't even in the fast lane. I was in the middle lane (right lane didn't really exist anymore lol). He could have gone around but wanted to tailgate me instead :|

Looks like the storm is going to hit here in a couple hours. I'm thinking of running out to the store and getting a 6 pack and a couple snack items to munch on, just because. But then, the stores may be packed with people getting stuff before it hits too, so I'm second guessing myself on it :hmm:

My giant willow tree in the back looks like it is made out of glass. The ice and sleet started coming down just a little after rush hour. I made the mistake of going to Wal Mart to get some D batteries for the flashlights. They were sold out of those and other things, and people were lined up 10+ deep in 10 or 15 cashier lanes.

I then went to Staples on the way home -- out of D batteries. Final stop was to the gas station to fill up the car -- out of D batteries AND regular gas. :|

I guess I should have bought batteries for my kerosene heater. Hell... I still need to get kerosene for it tomorrow. Good thing the gas station is about a mile from my house.

Ugh! After getting two storms on Tuesday and Wednesday, we're scheduled to have another on Saturday in Boston.

I can hear the ice coming down and hitting my window. And it is supposed to be even worse tomorrow. I think I may be having a couple days off of work. :awe:

Meijer this afternoon was outrageous. I have honestly in all of my 25 years never seen it that busy. EVER. I only needed a few things, took me about 10 minutes to grab my stuff but then 35 minutes to check out...insane.

Thank God I was buying stuff Joe Public doesn't usually go for. Leeks, blood oranges, organic vegetable broth, were all plentiful. Some of the more basic stuff such as beef, bread, milk, apples, yogurt were GONE, I mean literally some aisles had massive holes in the inventory.

Thankfully I make my own bread(baked a loaf of focaccia today). Going to make some Vichyssoise tomorrow as it should be a good hearty soup for the cold snowy conditions.

Even though it's cold I am about to go shopping in about another hour or so. Hopefully by that time the shelves will be restocked and not that many people in the store.

I made the same mistake of shopping at Meijers today too. What a madhouse. They were out of bananas and 2% organic milk. If I hadn't chanced it and done my shopping rather than stand and wait at the deli it would have taken 1/2 an hour just to get waited on.

That storm is supposed to hit us starting Tuesday and peaking on Wednesday.

We already got our Snowmageddon back on December 7.

Okay. The local idiots most recently were saying "omgosh! 8" overnight tonight." Not a flake in the air, 2:08 am. I don't see any snow in NY yet either. Weak.

We have that problem too. I've found a much more advanced and accurate way of checking the weather.

I look out the window.

Snow started here already. Went into work early so the traffic and the roads were fine. Just not looking forward to the ride home...

Office is closed today. I wonder if they'll close tomorrow as well, considering the weather tonight is supposed to be much worse.

Sub-freezing temp already in north Dallas and sleet/rain frozen as it hits. See a nice layer of ice developed already. Schools are closed. This will pretty much shutdown the Metroplex. Welcome Superbowl fans - this will make ya feel right at home.

We were supposed to get 1-3 inches last night... didn't happen. I have a dusting on my driveway. I'm 1 for 1 so far.

OMFG!!! I ALMOST SUCCAME TO THE SNOWPOCALYPSE!!!

My driveway and car were covered in 1/16" of ice but the roads are fine.
As usual... the media builds any weather event into a mass hysteria driving up ratings during a slow media period.

Who wants to hear about Egypt anymore...

We're expecting 8-12" here in Toronto. I really hope everything gets shut down on Wednesday since I need a day off.
